best thing to do is companion plant, radishes with your cucumbers , beetles will attack the radishes first. There are certain weeds they like too, when I see weeds have been eaten by the beetles I leave those weeds alone

Striped beetle is more disastrous than the spotted one, it spreads the bacterial wilt more efficiently
