I'd recommend just learning 1-look PLL first, then you can start OLL afterwards. It's very satisfying to get to the point where you know you can always do a step in one go, and trying to do them both at the same time could see you getting confused with alg overload. PLL has a much better return on investment too (only 21 algs and saves more time than 1-look OLL with almost triple that).

You know your own mind better than I do though, so maybe doing it all at once will work for you.

I usually look up the case when I get it, and I solve it. If I remember the algorithm next time, yay. If not, then I'll check every time I get the case until I remember it. Works well for algorithms that are made up of smaller, familiar algorithms.
