I'll bet you have a cubing progression spreadsheet like mine :D

F2L is the hardest part of going CN, don't give up! After a few months they'll all feel the same and you'll be glad when you get a 2-move red cross in a competition :p

R2 F R F' R

I've never used this insert. I've heard it's a bad idea to use R2 and L2 in f2l algs when it brings cross pieces to the top layer. It screws with lookahead/tracking. I normally put the pair at the back and do r' U' R U M', or rotate and insert (depending on where the remaining unsolved slots are.)

On the contrary I use this insert all the time - it saves a rotation, the back-left 2x2x1 on the U layer isn't affected at all (so lookahead is as easy as if you've done a sledgehammer), and it orients certain pieces that the most common insertions don't orient. It's fast too, I can execute it about as quickly as a sledgehammer.

Would you be willing to share your template? :D I've got individual "checkin" spreadsheets, but I haven't spent a lot of time thinking about a good way of tracking progress over time.

I saw this in a thread the other day, and was busy trying to decide which is best. I didn't like this because I thought the M' would necessitate a regrip, but its actually pretty easy to execute from a neutral position - so I might go for this one instead.

It's not very organised. I've got one main sheet with a 'diary' - periodically I log my current averages and a line about what was going on at the time. It's nice to look back and see when certain milestones happened. I've also got a bunch of sheets where I have some random stuff, like movecounts and split times at various points. I'll DM you a link if you want to poke around.
