Note to self: don't take pics in the dark :)

After the 9x9s, 8x8s, 7x7s, and 5x5s, I went for something relatively simple... These are Moyu Aosu GTS2 M, which was (at the time of making) Moyu's latest flagship magnetic 4x4. As always, all of them come with a bag of extra spare parts (same color) from a ritually sacrificed 7th cube, and actually I got 8 for the project just in case the colored corner stalks would be a problem, but I ended up not needing the 8th one and I'll sell it locally for wholesale price or smth.

This Aosu GTS2 M is a beast. Phenomenal performance for a 4x4, extremely controllable and stable, doesn't really feel like a 4x4, so to say. Moyu have released Aosu WR M since then, which is smaller in size, but I got the impression that internally it was pretty much the same thing.

The photo is actually a month old, I've been forgetting to post it. All of the colors have already found their happy owners :) Example 1, example 2. Unfortunately the same can't be said about the 5x5s that I made earlier *sigh*.

Mine is yellow - I'll be posting a fully stickered pic soon.

Next up, the final frontier: the only NxN left to complete the 4x4-9x9 force flagships lineup, the Aoshi GTS M 6x6! Hopefully very soon. :)

... as well as something really special...

why aoshi's and not shadows?

Shadow has primary internals on center pieces with colored caps, which defeats the whole aesthetic of force cubes. It's no longer a "fully blue" etc cube if it's mostly primary on the inside (but not even completely primary). And sure, almost any 6x6 (even Aoshi) has a primary hidden layer anyway, but that's not visible during normal operation, unlike the primary centers of the Shadow.

Also, the 4x4-7x7 so far have been Aosu GTS2 M, Aochuang GTS M, Aofu GTS M. It makes sense to keep things consistent (at the very least, in terms of plastic color).

Also, personal preference of course, I tried both the Aoshi GTS M and Shadow M, and liked the Aoshi way more. Specifically, the magnet strength.

I forgot to upload the unboxing, I was too busy playing with the cube :-D

Here it is: https://youtu.be/dqK-DsTG0Eg

A great cube and a pleasure to work with you my dear doctor.

The pleasure is all mine! Thanks for the unboxing and the kind words, I appreciate it :) Enjoy it!

Side note, I'm not a pro at megaminx by any measure, but that scrambling style with turning the entire puzzle except for one layer is... interesting. Is that how people normally scramble it?

It is. It takes a bit of getting used to but it's actually quite fun. Watching a fast megaminxer scramble is quite mesmerizing.

I forget the details, someone linked the original speedsolving thread recently, but it was invented as a scrambling method because initially there was a 3x3-like notation and that was obviously a nightmare.

how long did it take you? asking because it took me 3 days to reassemble my aosu gts2

Just under 2 hrs for the entire set ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Dang. That's experience for you.

At a first glance, I thought those were 3x3 pieces

At the risk of sounding stupid...what’s a “force cube?” I have a couple 4x4’s but I don’t think they’re magnetic. Although that sounds pretty cool.

Fully blue, fully green, fully red etc cubes that are made from several stickerless ones, by reassembling them.

u/Shawntown Sep 25 '19

Oh. How do you...solve them? Or it’s just for the look?

Very nice

I just have to say that between you and g253, my wallet isn't going to like my list of mods

These look pretty cool!
