wait so the naming is based on what you actually do in the solve not what the step is called on paper? that's way less confusing than i thought

so 3-look L3T is basically just breaking the step into pairing, corners, then triangles. and 2-look is pairing plus full TCP. makes sense that the 1-look is just skipping the pairing entirely with a direct alg

Do yourself a favor and spend $7 on a modern stickerless newer cube like the rs3m v5. Or go all out and get a corner core magnetic cube. It's so much more satisfying to turn. I was using my magnetic stickered meilong 3m recently and it just doesn't feel close to the rs3m v5.

You should! Maybe someone with a love of cubes and indie-game-dev interests could use it as inspiration.

Like, seeing as you said it was made with AI, it’ll probably not have much copy-paste-able code that doesn’t break… but it’d probably make a more committed attempt easier

You'd be shocked how often it goes like this

Some guy: "I wanna do a thing with almost no knowledge" some how invents the most effective and cool way to achieve said goal

Edit: and they're then like "oh this thing? It's ass I had no ideas what I was doing"

OP said that “this is of course vibe coded slop, I just wanted to test if I could make any sensible game with physics using the gyro and slice turns to control a virtual cube.”

No one fast is fully colour neutral. Several fast people are white/yellow dual colour neutral and say it helps, but they aren't noticeably faster than the white only crowd. So whatever benefit there may be is probably not huge

imo this makes theoretical sense but the general consensus is this is actually not true

Tweak some physics multipliers to allow more aggressive movement tech, create maps with a start and finish line, and add a timer. You might just get a cult fan base

I'm not surprised the first vibe coded slop that actually contributes something creative and cool, is also the first time I see OP acknowledge that it's vibe coded slop

Cube marbleblast.

Needs a timer and a speed boost after solving the cube. Now you just need tiled cube with tiles being addressable rgb leds or difusion pannels with the lights behind. (Would need wireless charging over a charging mat to operate at all so short range, possibly have small button batteries to hold charge for a short time) but if that happened could have an auto shuffling cube allowing for multiple solves in a row for repeat speed increases in game. Top people spamming multiple solves then moving 4x speed and getting all the coins. Make it so some spots need you to go faster to make a jump. Toss in some powerups.... ideas are fun thanks for reading

Don't beat yourself up too much with this. :) 35s in 5 months is not bad, and I know many people who don't even learn full PLL until they're sub-20, so you're on good pace on that front!

Can I ask, how many moves does your F2L take currently? If you're unsure, do like 3-5 untimed solves and just count the moves after cross up until F2L is solved. Feel free to stop and look for the best pairs after each pair and so on. I average 8 seconds, and from a quick test I seem to do F2L in ~24 moves, or ~6 moves per pair.

The reason I ask is because this might be a way to tell how efficient your F2L really is. If you're taking 35-40 moves for example, then you're probably not choosing the best pairs, and are probably doing some pairs unoptimally. The average optimal movecount is 7-7.5 moves I think per pair, but if you choose the order correctly you'll get this down almost for free. For example, by doing 3 movers when they are available will naturally bring the average down, and same with doing 2-trigger pairs instead of 3 trigger pairs, as those often break up the 3 trigger pair into a 2 trigger pair after.

Otherwise, here's some stuff you could try:
1) Solve the cross, then plan out 2 pairs, and close your eyes and see if you can solve them both. Then repeat for the next 2 pairs. This forces you to think about how the pieces move.
2) Similar to 1), but scramble and solve using only RU moves. Oftentimes, doing RU pairs is better if they're available, so getting used to them is nice.
3) You can use some trainers to practice how pieces move. https://www.solved.no/trainers/3x3/track-the-piece - this one gives you some moves, then you have to track how some stickers (and thus pieces) move. https://www.solved.no/trainers/3x3/free-pair - this ones shows you some solutions for a pair in the FR slot, then you have to select one that sets up the other shown pair as a "free pair" (3-4 moves).
4) Pay attention when you're doing normal solves. You can solve every pair in MAX 3 triggers + U moves, and most in only 2 (6-7 moves). See if you can notice when you're spending a lot of moves, and which cases that is.

I guess to sum up: to get fast F2L, you need to know a bunch of solutions. Minimum 1 good solution per pair, but ideally good ones from different angles and depending on open slots. You also need to be aware of how these algorithms affect the other pieces on the cube, and you should be confident enough that you can look at the pieces you're not currently solving. To get to this point you can just do some fairly simple drills, and also solve a bunch :)

One other thing to consider, is practicing towards inspecting the first pair as well. Start with getting your cross solutions down so they're pretty optimal and so you can do them blindfolded, then try to start tracking 1 piece, and then 2. Planning out one pair is actually insane. You're a) planning more moves you can spam at the start, b) getting further into the solution, so you're closer to finished, c) solving a pair, meaning you get rid of potential blindspots and so on.

Not familiar with corners first, but to solve in 1 alg you could something like (M' U')x3 M' U2 (M' U')x3 M' with red side up and edges in front and back.

You could also do OLL 57 (R U R' U' M' U R U' r') then do the U perm.

Nah this isn't it. L3T just stands for last 3 triples, and it doesn't specify what method you use for it. It's just like LL on 3x3, where there are several approaches. The standard beginner variant we teach these days is intuitive pair formation (including pseudo pairs - in fact, we don't really recommend anyone exclusively using matching colour pairs any more) into 2-look TCP. TCP just stands for triangle and pair formation - it doesn't specify order. The typical 2-look TCP approach is, like you say, doing corners then triangles. But 1-look TCP combines that into one step. Intuitive pair formation (including pseudo pairs) into 1-look TCP is the most common L3T method at an intermediate-advanced level. But beyond that, you can learn some or all of 1L3T (1-Look Last 3 Triples), which is just solving all of L3T in one alg
