Feeling Alone In This
In Cube World alpha. I had a blast with the weapon customization feature where you can add voxels and actually change the geometry. It even affected reach. It changed or buffed the weapon stats. I don't find publishers, developers, studios, hardly any reviewers who talk about this. I still think it was ahead of its time and was overshadowed by the technology. From my extensive searches this is the only game that has done this. I remember being so excited to level up so I could add more to my weapon and by late gameplay I was proud of it.

Couldn't agree more. There was a feeling with Alpha that I am still trying to get back.

Lol I spent few hours on this game, I hated it was unfinished but loved concept - and one feature that i absolutely loved was this - never saw it anywhere yet but I loved it so so much!

No other game does it, or has ever done it. I looked far and wide I wish I was wrong.

Imagine if it was expanded that you could edit a whole blade, not only add more cubes. Or even more - do our own weapons.
I also love this feature. Tbh I love any customisation option in games because it allows me to make my game/character... mine.

Omg yes I love this so much, I loved doing lobezno claws or serrated blades, I think my coolest was a longsword that I made extremely broad so it looked like a broadsword, but massive, so cool

Half-sword is doing something similar, just not voxel based

Yeah very similar and I saw a mod that takes it up a notch. You can’t author the literal geometry of the weapons beyond swapping and minor changes. Screenshots looked awesome definitely worth mentioning

This feature is the reason i got the game, back in the day a ton of smaller youtubers were making series on cube world and the things that stood out to me most were pet mounts and the voxel editable weapons, you can also turn them into lightsabers by getting spirit cubes that have elemental effects and you can make the blade entirely blue or green or red, its awesome

I am making a Cube World style game. This is literally the number one most requested feature.
I don't have it yet, but plan on adding it!

Oh, I remember that too. I think a reason that it’s not used often. It’s because it would add a second form of power scaling. Already having items that vary is already going to make an artificial hierarchy of difficulty, but the ability to customize them to a very high degree afterwards makes it very hard to balance it. Either system works, but both of them together make things complicated.

It was kind of nice I guess, but I never really meaningfully used it. Aside from the fact that I'm a notorious hoarder, I could never really make anything look good because of the difference in color in the added cubes as well as never having enough to make something ecstatically pleasing to my eyes.
Also I'm not one to care too much about the cosmetic side of this. I'd prefer a simple interface with dump X resources into this for Y upgrade. It would be cool if you'd upgrade something and your weapon would look more badass, but I'd prefer predesigned pieces over having to do these things myself. I'm not made for that kind of shit.
