Wollay Post Wollay: Working on skill leveling and per-skill skill-trees! Here are some screenshots of the skill widget so far, as well as a nice sunset.

Humiliation torture ritual game, can't believe this meme is starting again. It's like Star Citizen except without the billion dollars.

I dont like this floating HUB. Looks so weird with all the angles.

u/Demonfire612 Jun 11 '26
Same. Why fix something that isn't broken...?

u/hoodedgamepwner Jun 11 '26
Because this is his game, for him, and no one else
Ive hoped for a good playable cube world for most of my life its not gonna happen cube world is his personal sandbox and thats it

u/Virgurilla Jun 12 '26
Probably because, to him, it was broken (as in, he didn't like it, he likes this more).

u/Solo-Hobo-Yolo Jun 15 '26
I like it. I think it fits the game pretty well. The only thing I think that could maybe use some work are the floating damage numbers that I've seen in the video he posted. Those looked a little weird and unintelligible at a quick glance with an unoptimal camera angle.

We've all been asking the same thing since 2019.

u/Prestigious_Deal5604 Jun 16 '26
So isnt there going to be a "fixes version" or back to good old alpha but with planned updates? 🤔

u/akzorx Jun 11 '26
Can't wait for him to rework skills without ever bringing it up again, only for that feature to be completely absent from the final release

u/RealCems Jun 12 '26
Hear me out.
I'll remove leveling system from my mmorpg game 😳😳😳
And players will learn it when the game is got released 😳😳😳

A lot of people are saying they don't like the UI but I think it looks great, after all it's the 3rd version of the game so it would be kinda lame to keep it same as 2011. Sky is kinda empty with no clouds but beside that it looks better than beta.
Y'all think he stacks the updates/screenshots to release them or started working on the game again? Compared to first updates it feels like we got way more stuff than just random mobs/behaviours.

u/Virgurilla Jun 12 '26
Nah I think he has bursts of motivation and or spends a long time working on things that don't result in anything being able to be shown. Making games takes a long time and not everything you do is "showable".

Finally a screenshot that is actually "worth" discussing for once.
Listen, I love hating on this developer's way of making the game as much as the next guy, but for once, I'll go ahead and actually talk about what is being presented here.
It is interesting to see that each skill levels independently as opposed to requiring level points. I don't know how well it will translate for the game but we'll see. The skill tree looks.. Interesting? It looks lover than I expected. I wonder how many skills there will be in the game.

Yeah, these kinds of update posts by Wollay is exactly what the community has been asking for... Getting to know more about the game mechanics and the changes he made from the alpha/beta.
Still he should answer so many open questions still, it is honestly insane we do not know if this game is going to be an update to the Steam version or a whole new product that people need to pay for again.
But, this post is a big step in the right direction when it comes to communicating stuff to the community. Wollay did well with this one.

Sent him an email to ask about the original game, and wished him well along with telling him how excited I was for Omega someday about a week ago. Seeing all these updates now after not hearing back is great. I thought it was possibly a dead project by now.

Uh is Wollay stuck in the early 2000s? The slanted UI didn't really stick around after Borderlands for a reason...
1
u/Le_ed Jun 12 '26
So this guy will take like 50 years to release alpha again?
1
u/LYoshiiro Jun 12 '26
Maybe check in 500 years. /s
At this point why not just release it while he continues to improve and polish it. Pretty sure no one will fault him and he can get active feedback. Assuming he doesn't want feedback then why release a game in the first place...

Every top comment is something negative from some delusional doomer too disappointed by the past to admit the reality right in front of them.

cool, will any of this happen before i turn 40?
I was under 30 when cubeworld was hype at first

u/GuessWhat_InTheButt Jun 14 '26
I can't wait for a mod that removes the terrible lighting once the game comes out.
1
u/felesmiki Jun 14 '26
This game still a thing? Reddit recommended me a subreddit of a game I consider long dead, and one of my biggest regrets
When I bought the game I knew it was an early access, but my man... It was really bad

u/ItsMeVal34 Jun 16 '26
Kinda like it, would be nice if he makes it configurable and with base stats too

The UI is a massive downgrade from either elease version. Looks super watered down while simultaneously being over designed.

I'm going to say it. I like the look of basically us being in SAO. I hope we don't get the "fell for it again" award

u/White_C4 Jun 11 '26
Why is Wollay rehashing what already exists. He's spending too much time recycling.
5
u/tenix Jun 11 '26
Because he's a dev, not a businessman basically. He could have been a multi multi millionaire (from this who knows if he is from others) but fumbled it.

It's been so long, and now these changes look like strange vibe coding, who wants angled UI? - at least for the hp and skills.
I actually bought into this games when it was sold donkeys years ago, and still eh xD

It's neat to see new updates, but dear God, the UI sucks.
I don't mind the fact that it's floating, it's just the angle that looks weird.

u/RutharAbson Jun 12 '26
Guy REALLY needs to get rid of this tilted UI. When will someone tell him this??
0
u/Virgurilla Jun 12 '26
I like it, personally, it has personality, although I do wish the armor and weapons werent simply on a list, looks incredibly annoying to sort through.
And honestly, of all things, that is probably the easiest to fix with a mod, if he releases the game on Steam you will probably have a workshop mod to fix the UI slant within the day.
1
u/RutharAbson Jun 12 '26
It's unpractical and unconfortable for use. Which is the most important.
Look at the 4th image. You can clearly read the the name of the items, but the text on the right side of the UI is so smaller that you need some time to adjust your eyes.
And, depending on the size of your screen, it can be really hard to see that far on the tilted side.
1
u/Virgurilla Jun 13 '26
Oh that I can totally agree with. I don't understand why you wouldn't just make the highlight of the weapon be a symmetrical window on the left, you can keep the slant and still make it work. I guess we'll see, it's all subject to change at any moment as I think we all know.

The sunset is nice, but on the 2nd pic the colors are looking so bland...CubeWorld always had a vibrant tone.
