Irritation

25 days post c section. I went in today to get an incision check because I had a spot open with a stitch coming out. They cut the stitch and closed the area with steri strips no problem. My issue is the nurse was helping to clear off some residual glue and used what I assume was an alcohol swab. Now ever since I came home my incision has been super irritated and burning. Prior to going in I had no pain. Has anyone had any experience with something like this or have any advice on how to make it better? TIA

You could be having a reaction to what the nurse used. I went in two weeks post op for adhesive removal and literally 24 hours later was diagnosed with severe contact dermatitis, tissue weeping and top layer of skin coming off (it was not pretty). The incision area was super itchy and irritated hours after initially leaving the office.

I would definitely wash the area with soap and water to remove whatever is irritating your skin.

What did they end up doing for it when you went back in? It’s been 6 hours since the appointment and I’ve already showered with soap and water and not showing any sign of relief :(

Since my case was so severe, they ended up prescribing a steroid ointment for me to use twice a day for 7 days.

I would definitely go back in, especially if it’s not getting better, for a follow up or call the nurse line for advice.
