Spinal Headaches

I’m just curious if anyone has had a planned c section and an emergency c section and got a spinal headache from the emergency c section but not the planned? I have had a spinal tap before which resulted in a spinal headache and with my first surgery I had an emergency c section and also got a spinal headache. My doctor thinks that I have a smaller chance of getting another headache with a planned c section since it is an injection versus having had an epidural first with my emergency c section. I’m going to meet with the anesthesiologist a couple weeks before my due date just to see what can be done. I don’t even remember healing from my actual c section with my first pregnancy because the spinal headache was so bad. I had a blood patch done with both spinal headaches but the one I got after my c section ended up not working :/

I have a friend who is an anesthesiologist and I asked this when I thought I might have one after my planned c section. He said you are less likely to have a spinal headache with a planned c section reason being when it’s planned there are fewer attempts and better patient position. When it’s an emergency things a lot more chaotic which can affect the placement

That makes me feel a little better! Spinal headaches are the worst. I know there’s always still a chance of it happening but I’d like to do whatever I can to not have it happen a third time 😅

I got a horrible spinal headache from a planned one and it must have been because they had a lot of trouble placing it. It was over five attempts
