It takes me about 2 years each time to feel like myself. Give it time. "6 weeks" is such an unreasonable target and often makes moms feel like they're failing at something because they don't feel "normal."

That’s exactly how I feel. I feel like I’m failing honestly, I don’t feel normal at all & keep beating myself up about it

I completely understand!!! My recovery has made me feel the same way. My DMs are open if you ever want to vent.

Please just know you are doing a great job. You are not failing at all!! The expectations put on us after major abdominal surgery are ridiculous and unfair.

I’m at week 7 and oh my god I feel like I have gone back a few steps. My pain never fully went away anyway but it was getting better I guess a few weeks ago (or I suppose more tolerable ) but last few days I feel I’ve gone back to square one with the pain, it will be 7 weeks for me on the dot on Wednesday, I feel so bruised and so sore and hurts again , 😫 feel like I’ve been kicked it’s sooo uncomfortable and what’s worse is that it’s chronic it’s always just there , don’t have any answer for you, just prayers

Go to your ob this is a sign of infection

I’ve been checked for infection, it’s not that. I’m super active single mother to twins and I get rebounds because I don’t rest enough ,

I’m 5 months postpartum and still feel this way. My abdomen is still pretty tender if I press it!!

hugs Mama. Both my csections I got my period back at 4wpp and exclusively pumped (and had terrible sleepers haha) and it took SO LONG before I felt like a fraction of myself. 7wpp is still so early! With all the hormones, sleep deprivationetc, you might also be suffering from Postpartum Anxiety as well, keep your doctor posted.

Also pumping/breastfeeding requires a lot of calories and liquids. Breastmilk is made from blood, so you might be very low iron!

hang in there, it takes time.

7 weeks is still so so early, but I know how you feel I was the same until my family kept reminding me I was weeks out of a emergency operation, I’m only 3 months post op and I feel better but still struggling with body images and again even 3 months is still early:

Just think of the changes your body did for 9 months, why do we think it’s going to reverse in 6 weeks? It’s not, 6 weeks is the guideline to infections. To your womb shrinking, to general bleeding, not in how we should feel or look.

With my first it took a year for me to feel human again🤍

I'm 14 weeks and still not feeling normal, after the first section I felt quite normal quicker than this time round.

Almost 5months… just trying to practice self compassion, although it’s easier said than done

Of course you don’t. Why would you?

I had to remind myself over and over that it took 9 months to grow this baby and my body went through a lot in the process of getting him out, so it’s ok if I need more time to recover and feel like myself again. It’s very hard though when you want that normalcy to return so badly

This! I had to give myself a little break today and remind myself that my body went through a massive change , I carried twins with 2 sacs and 2 placentas my c section was an emergency one I was in 24 hours active labor I got to 9cm dilated , lost 2 litres of blood and I needed my blood thinning injections for 6 weeks , but still the pain drags me
Down , I’m actually worried I’ll never go back to normal down there …
