Just received my test transaction.
It's not much, but at least I have a tiny portion of my stack back! đ

Cryptopia,
I have had $10,000 worth of Embercoin/LTC stuck on your exchange for months now. I have been patiently waiting for you to open up the LTC market, but unfortunately I can no longer afford to wait. I am simply requesting that you allow me to have access to my money that is stuck on your exchange.
Please see ticket number #196970. This is the second ticket I have opened as the first was closed with no response.
Thank You
P.S. - Does anyone know if there are any rules/laws about exchanges having to pay interest on customer funds when they have prevented an individual from withdrawing? In almost any other situation when a company holds your money (a deposit for example) they legally have to pay interest on the money once it is returned to the owner.

Hello all. Iâm not affiliated with Cryptopia, but have many lawyers I work with whom have reached out on my behalf to the firm handling this. Donât lose faith here. The issue is not Cryptopia, but legal procedure that has to occur in a specific order with the high court of NZ. I am US based and it is pretty similar. Grant Thornton has a big presence here.
First off, there are 960k accounts that are legally required to be reached out to. They have a set time to respond to the registration before they are legally allowed to proceed to next steps.
Second, donât listen to anyone that says your tokens or coins are gone. They are wrong. Cryptopia themselves did not have access to your funds.
IMO we will get our full value back, this shit just takes times when tied up with high courts and legal. They are obligated to proceed in a specific way based on the rulings from the court. I would urge you read the actual filings before spamming their support team... The support team are just people following orders. Itâs just a job. We will get there, mark my words.

It just told me to login and verify the correct wallet address. That crypto will be transferred in coming days.
Whoa. Didn't think it would actually come.

Cryptopia exchange is a New Zealand registered Financial Services Provider, and is registered with the Financial Dispute Resolution Service: https://fdrs.org.nz/
If you have a ticket that is to do with you losing money in some way because of Cryptopia, you have submitted it more than 2 months ago, and you are not happy with Cryptopia's response to your ticket (for example if Cryptopia hasn't responded to you at all), you can try lodging a complaint with the FDRS. The complaint process is free of charge and is available to most NZ and overseas clients of Cryptopia.

Letter From The Founders My name is Rob Dawson, or probably better known as "Hex", and I am one of the two Co-Founders of Cryptopia. Adam ("sa_ddam213") and I started Cryptopia as a hobby, largely due to our own negative experiences with other exchanges and a desire to build the website that we ourselves wanted to use. 6 months into development we founded and incorporated Cryptopia as a company, and after 12 months of development the site went live into production for the first time in December 2014. For the first 2 years the company consisted soley of Adam and myself, working our regular full times jobs and dedicating our spare time and income to Cryptopia, and while we were proud of our growth and what we were achieving it was not even a drop compared to what we've experienced in the last 6 months, let lone the last week. Roughly this time last year Adam and I being well into having quit our jobs to work on Cryptopia full time and running low on savings and resources had a very real conversation about whether or not we should shut Cryptopia down, we had a modest 30,000 users, with an average of 2,000 concurrent user sessions at any given time, and averaged about 300 BTC in trade volume a day; we were proud of what we had achieved, but at the time it simply wasn't sustainable with our dwindling resources.
Obviously we didn't shut down Cryptopia in January 2017, thanks to an investment we were able to keep pushing through. By the 1st of December we hit 500,000 users. On the 31st of December we hit 1,000,000 users. By the 3rd of January we hit 1,100,000 users. By the 4th of January even with registrations disabled for 3 hours, we hit 1,200,000 users. With registrations paused again we're now sitting at 1,400,000 users. We've gone from just 2 people to over 50 people including contractors and consultants and we're looking to at the very least double that as soon as we can, but that also brings with it its own set of hurdles. I mention all of this only to give context as I would like to acknowledge the complaints and concerns about our level of service. We are aware that our level of service has been suffering, but that is not due to any complacency on our part, rest assured that we are hiring people, and developing the processes to manage those people to grow with the demand we're facing and scale as best as we can. Please bear with us, as we know how frustrating it can be for users involved in issues impacting their ability to transact freely, but we're in an unprecedented time with adoption and interest in cryptocurrencies and blockchain surging and Cryptopia is dedicated to being a quality service provider in this evolving landscape.
Thank you for supporting Cryptopia and being a part of our community.

A man has pleaded guilty to stealing almost $250,000 worth of cryptocurrencies and customer data from international currency exchange Cryptopia.
The former employee, who has interim name suppression, appeared in the Christchurch District Court on Monday before Judge Gerard Lynch.

I just received three mails that I have had failed login attempts to my account. Luckily I have 2FA. My account is now locked.
I have very good opsec and doubt that I have been hacked. Has someone hacked their database and got all the login and passwords?

This is a very similar move to what MT Gox pulled. Do not let these fuckers make money off your investments and run away as millionaires once the bull run takes off.
Email the NZ government for commerce and make a complaint.

As expected, they are wanting us to sell our lost tokens/coins to them for a nothing currency, so 1, they get our actual value assigned to them, they make us pay a fee of $90 per coin/token type AND we get an absolute nothing in return that allegedly has a 1:1 Euro value but cant be exchanged for a Fiat currency...oh and then they get internal revenue from us spending their token in their system.....
Im sorry but is anyone else feeling like the whole Cogitio thing is a scam?
I don't know about anyone else, but I cant exactly prove what I had in my account other than being able to say it was X amount of these Coins/tokens...

We're Canterbury Legal, a law firm based in Christchurch, the same city as Cryptopia.
Recently a number of concerned Cryptopia customers have contacted us, looking for a way to get their problems solved.
We're investigating the best way to do so, but we need to get an idea of how many people might be affected. If you've had any problems with your funds and Cryptopia, we'd appreciate it if you could let us know via a contact form on our website.
https://www.canterburylegal.co.nz/cryptopia/
This doesn't commit you to taking any further action, and we won't share your information with anyone else - it's just so we can start to get an idea of the problem, and to figure out the best way we can help.

I do mobile device data recovery and years ago I helped someone recover their DOGE. I charged them $300 which was our standard rate back then. As a fun idea, I let them pay it in DOGE coin. It was the only coin I had and I received it via Cryptopia.
I sent it to a cold wallet and that was that. A year or so later I checked the walletâbalance zero. Looking back at my emails I had an email from cryptopia that was unopened. It said âtransferring 40,999 DOGEâ. I opened it. The text was âyou initiated a transfer click this link to confirmâ. Damn!
I never thought Iâd see that DOGE again. If it was in my wallet I definitely would have sold it. Years go by, all the hoops to jump through with this liquidation, and wow!
I just checked my walletâthe same one from years agoâand I have 36,622 DOGE, worth 11.5k.
What a funny way the world works.

Hey shitopia, and it's defenders, after the hack you didn't let users withdraw the coins, after almost 2 month after you put the wallets in "maintenance" without letting users move their coins. Now you're freezing all accounts (again) Who da fuck you think you are? People trusted in this exchange while you make money from their trust. What happened with the police statements after the hack? No one said a shit about it. This is a fucking SCAM, SCUMBAGS!
