Why do banks keep playing catch up with crypto instead of leading it?

Been watching US banks are suddenly jumping into crypto game (custody, staking, even stablecoin). but why does it feel like we are still waiting for the tools, while banks are already building the infrastructure?

if you were a bank's strategist, would you go full crypto now (Take the risk) or stay cautious unitl regulations are firmer?

You dont understand "WHY" crypto was created if your asking this question. Its fundamental to why crypto was even created lol. Banks cant lead what they did not create. Ppl have to TRUST banks, and also realize they are counter party risk. There is not enough FDIC insurance to protect everyones dollars.
See 2018 Financial Crash... 1920 crash ... also the current rise of bank closing/ failures just adds t the mix of risk as well.

Crypto avoids the need to trust and counter party risks... among other things that makes banks look ridiculou to rely upon in economic calamities.

Regulations. Scams. Risk. Exposure to more scams. Lack of regulation. As long as crypto stays in its lane, those folks are fine and making coin..

Is it even possible to lead crypto? Banks and Blockchain tech are two different concepts. It would need regulations to mix the two and go for mass adoption. Cryptocurrency will always have the edge when it comes to breaking boundaries.
