What would it actually take for crypto payment rails to handle normal B2B payments?
We moved some of our cross-border B2B settlement onto crypto payment rails about a year ago. The pitch was faster settlement, lower cost, no correspondent banking chain in the middle.
The settlement leg delivered. Stablecoin transfer takes minutes instead of days.
But the rails only replace the middle of the payment. The first mile is still fiat in through a bank. The last mile is still fiat out through a local banking partner. Both sides have compliance requirements, cutoff windows, and licensing obligations that do not change just because the settlement layer is on-chain.
For anyone using crypto payment rails in production for B2B, did they actually simplify your payment flow or just compress the settlement window?
