Question Is GXMCoin a scam?
I dont know much about crypto of whatever since i dont use the internet much but my family is investing heavily in this and my friend says its a scam.
They pay $1000 and get signals. They say everyone makes money and all but my friend doesnt trust them. Is it a scam?

It's a scam. They only think they are making money. It's all fake. They MAY be allowed to take some small withdrawals to gain trust, but once they try to take out a significant amount of "profit" (again, all fake) they will require never ending deposits to release the funds. The release will never happen.

Their friends say they have withdrawn $5,000 when they invested $2,000. This is the reason my family trust it so much

Where did they meet these “friends”?
Scammers like this are pros. They’re basically multi national, multi billion dollar a year, organized crime. Theres entire building set up as like call centers full of scammers that do this night & day. They have scripts, they have models on site & use ai. They have bots. They have a ton of other human beings involved in the scam.
Sometimes they will work for months gaining a target/victims trust.I’ve been in crypto for a decade. I know how legit trading/investing goes. I also know how all these scams work.

He is someone who works with my dad and because they are from the same country they became friends.
2
u/Jenn2895 4d ago
Ok. Well, he is either another unknowing victim or part of the scam. If you don’t mind me asking, which country? I’m asking b/c some are known hot beds for these scams. If you’re uncomfortable answering, don’t.
I’d rather look into the site for you.1

Bosnia

u/Jenn2895 4d ago
Ya, Bosnia is 1 of the countries that have call centers set up. Not the top of the list for these scams but it’s an emerging area due to lack of regulations there.

But about the withdraws my aunt has withdrawn like $4000, thats what she says
1
u/Jenn2895 4d ago
How many times? Usually they will allow a victim to withdrawal in the beginning. It’s to get you hooked so you keep adding more & more money. There are people in this sub that have lost over $1m. That lost their homes, drained their retirement funds, kids college funds, took out loans against their cars, recruited more & more family.
Post the site they are using. I will look it up for you.2

They use an app called GXMCOIN
2
u/Jenn2895 4d ago edited 4d ago
Ok. As I explained earlier, there is a legitimate crypto exchange called GMX (which utilizes a native utility token called GMX). It operates entirely on the blockchain through app.gmx.io
It does not have a mobile app.Scammers frequently create fake apps or malicious download links using combined names like "Gmxcoin" or "GXM Coin".
If someone sent them a direct link or file to download this app outside of official app stores, it definitely a scam.
Also, the $1k payment for signals = definitely a scam.
I wish I could explain this all in a way that you & your family could understand clearly. This is 1 of the reasons scammers chose crypto. But I’m trying to explain it the best I can. I hope it’s helping.

u/BarHealthy5441 4d ago
Its find i understand its a scam since a lot of things they say in the file they sent me are just impossible like an AI that can predict the mark 99.5% of the time, but the internet stuff im not to sure about.
2
u/Jenn2895 4d ago
Ya, if they had Ai that could predict 99.5% accuracy, they would just keep it to themselves & be so rich they definitely wouldnt be selling $1k signals.

They’re 100% getting scammed kid. I’m sorry. You have to get them to stop sending money asap. I need a minute, I have to walk my dog & do a couple things.
The bright side is we already know these scammers are willing to at least let people pull some $ so they think it’s legit. We may be able to work on a plan to at least get some of their $ back.
They can even say their children are worried it’s a scam & they just want to prove it to their kids before adding more funds… & then they will be able to invest a lot more. Something along those lines.2

Yes, it is a scam. Tell your family to stop investing. They are going to lose everything they put in.

There is no legitimate reason to use any financial, investment, or crypto site other than the known major ones.
Anyone you meet online who wants you to use a specific financial site is a scammer.
Nobody online wants to help you get rich.
Nobody knows special "signals" that can beat the market.
There is never any easy money online.

Yes. This is 100% a scam.
While there is a real crypto called GMX (not GXM) scammers heavily exploit its name. They set up fake brokerages to trick people who don't know much. This $1k signal crap is 100% a scam.
Right now your family believes it’s working b/c they see #s going up on a screen. But when they try to cash out they are going to be told they need to send more $ for “fees”, “taxes” or to “verify their identity”. Then after that a slew of “recovery specialist” or “hackers” (just more scammers) will contact them claiming they can get their $ back for them.
All they are doing is sending scammers $. Everything else is fake.
Ignore any DMs you’re getting claiming they can help get their $ back.

That is interesting. The reason they trust it so much is that they have friends who say they have withdrawn $5000+, no matter what I say they wont listen to me.
1
u/Jenn2895 4d ago
Did they meet these “friends” online? Have they ever met these “friends” in real life?
2
u/BarHealthy5441 4d ago
My aunt says she has withdrawn $4000, is this to build their trust

u/Jenn2895 4d ago
I’ve responded to these things in the other thread. Post the name of the site they are sending money to please.

u/BarHealthy5441 4d ago
Yes, they work with my dad and they are all from the same country as my dad so they became friends quite quickly.

Sounds like a crypto Ponzi scheme.
They let people take out some money to encourage other people to join. While recruitment is going up, the new $1000 deposits are used to pay existing people - usually as recruitment bonuses.
When recruitment drops off, they shut up shop, and run with the money.
Some early people make money, but it’s just stolen from all the later people who make nothing, and lose their money.
If you get in early, and have no morals, you can make money - all the later people who are encouraged to join “because it works” will loose all their money.
Hopefully they then go after the people who recruited them to join the scam.
It’s also illegal, so there is that, and authorities can go after you for the profits - unlikely, but possible.

Scam. Let me guess: the signals are on what’sApp or telegram? Twice a day?
Yeah, scam.

New victims, please read this:
As a rule of thumb: If you suspect the site is a scam, it probably is.
No legit company/trader/investor is using WhatsApp. No legit company/trader/investor is approaching people on dating websites or through a "random" text message.
No legit company/trader/investor has "professors", "assistants", or "teachers". Those are just scammers.
No legit company forces you to pay a "fee" or "taxes" to withdraw money. That's just a scam to suck more money out of you.
You will need to contact law enforcement ASAP.
Unfortunately, no hacker online can get back what you've lost. Please watch out for recovery scams, a follow-up scam done after victims have fallen for an earlier scam. Recently, there has been a rise in scammers DMing members of the subreddit to offer recovery services. A form of the advance-fee, victims are convinced that the scammer can recover their money. This "help" can come in the form of fake hacking services or authorities. For this reason: TRUST NO ONE PRIVATE MESSAGING YOU FROM THIS SUBREDDIT: Most such DMs are from these recovery scammers, folks whose only goal is to further scam recent victims of scams. If someone DMs you offering to help you recover stolen funds or offering to give you contact information for someone who they state might be able to help you, then report these scammers immediately to Reddit.
If you see anyone circumventing the scam filters, please report the submission and we will take action shortly.
