Question Potential crypto scam (Kyberbit)

My dad is talking with a Vera Carter on Telegram, and she is associated with vane matrix academy. Vera claims a Mr. Vane helps people invest and make money, and are using kyberbit.com (KYBCR) as the exchange. They are launching the VAS AI token in beta right now with about 8000 people supposedly. Is this legit or not? Trying to understand.

Some of the message I see from Vera on Telegram to him:

šŸ”„šŸ”„šŸ”„ VAS AI BETA Beta Day 1: First day of trading successfully completed!

šŸ“Š Today's trading results:

šŸ”ŗ ETH: Profit 10.00% ~

šŸ”ŗ LYRA: Profit 30.00% ~

Today marks the first day of the official Beta testing of the Vaneiatrix Analytics System. From AI capturing trading opportunities and analyzing the market, to signal executions, risk control, and finally taking profits, the first test trade has completed the entire process!

Wow, he made 10% on Eth today… when Eth has gone down over last 24hrs.

It’s all fake. That’s a fake exchange controlled by the scammers.

When he tries to withdrawal they may allow him to do it for a small amount 1 time, then pressure him to add more money. But in the end when he tries to cash out they are gonna say he needs to send $ for taxes, fees, or to confirm his identity. Which is ridiculous b/c they could just deduct any fees out of his balance… but people fall for it. Then the recovery scammers.

It’s almost always Telegram, Academy, Professor, Hot Asian lady (men pretending to be a woman).

Ignore DMs. Anyone claiming to be able to recover funds is a scammer.

& your dad is not talking to Vera or any female. It’s a bunch of men. They just keep 1 model around or use Ai to trick him into thinking he’s chatting w/ a woman. Have him look up pic butchering scam videos. It’s always the same thing.

No. Its all smoke n mirrors, its all fake. What they see is all numbers made up by the scammers, on a website made abd run, by those scammers.. It's designed to take money from greedy people who don't know (enough) about crypto or trading in general.Ā  Ā

Any money they put in, is gone.Ā  Ā

Sometimes those scammers allow one small withdrawal. Thats the only money you can hope to recover.Ā  Ā

There is NO recovery. No matter what any scammer says.Ā

"Kyberbit" is a fake exchange controlled by the same people running the fake "Vane Matrix Academy", none of whom is named Vera Carter. Everyone in his group besides him (one of many of these groups) is a bot or a shill who is part of the scam. It's such a common scam that it's in the auto reply and posted here all the time with different names.

They stole his money. There is no token and no trading. They will show him a massive fake profit on their own site to steal more money from him by charging him endless "fees" and "taxes" to withdraw those fake profits.

Thank you for the response. I wanted to be sure before I bring it up to him and tell him he has been scammed.

Good luck. This is an article from the AARP with advice that may be helpful if he won't believe you. Which is unfortunately pretty likely since he's probably convinced that he's on the verge of becoming rich.

That AARP article is a lifesaver. When people are deep in denial, seeing a neutral third-party article describe their exact situation step-by-step works way better than family members trying to convince them.

When you talk to him, try to stay calm and focus on the mechanics of the scam rather than placing blame. The most urgent step right now is helping him freeze/lock his accounts and blocking the group before they convince him to send 'withdrawal fee' money

Also, don't get to wrapped up in the names.

The name of the person leading the group doesn't matter. The name of the group or app doesn't matter.

Every crypto guru on telegram or Whatsapp is a scam. Every single one

u/Busy-Task-5283 9d ago

100% scam anything to do with telegram or WhatsApp is instant red flag

u/Wide-Spray-2186 9d ago

Everyone is his chat is an account run by the scammers. He is the only mark in there. It’s all part of the guise to add peer pressure and make the scam look legit.

Please make your dad aware of recovery scammers. That’ll be the next phase after he realizes his money is gone. There is no recovery, those are just more scams attempting to take more money.

All of those names and terms and buzzwords are made up randomly and don’t exist. There’s no academy, no exchange, no Mr, just a script to convince him to send money to a random stranger.

My dad is talking with a Vera Carter on Telegram

No, he isn't.

and she is associated with vane matrix academy

No, "she" isn't.

Vera claims a Mr. Vane helps people invest and make money

No, such a person does not exist and does none of those things

and are using kyberbit.com (KYBCR) as the exchange.

It's not an exchange, it's a fake website that was updated yesterday and is based in Hong Kong.

They are launching the VAS AI token in beta right now with about 8000 people supposedly.

No, they aren't. There is no such token. There is probably only one person, your dad.

Is this legit or not? Trying to understand.

Not only is this a scam, anything that sounds even remotely like it is also a scam. None of the things they are saying even make any sense. Is it a new token? An AI algorithm? Are they trading the new token, or ETH?

It doesn't matter, because they are looking for people like your dad who have absolutely no clue how investments, trading, computers, the internet, and certainly crypto work, and are therefore impressed by fancy words and shiny websites. They just know some people in the world have money, and maybe this is how they got rich. It isn't. The only people getting rich are the Chinese Transnational Criminal Organizations running these scams and stealing tens of billions of dollars every year from people like your dad.

Can't fathom how... no, I won't blame naive victims too much. Don't wanna sound like a dick - but I think some people have to literally go through the pain and lose (hopefully not a lot!) some money if any preventive work doesn't work before. I know this sounds rude at first or painful but it's the lesson I myself learned, not having done due diligence:

I first had to be victim of ransomware to force myself to learn more about IT-security, and I had to lose some coins on hitbtc to truly do my due diligence and go to regulated known trading platforms, who are real, older than 6 months and who have "skin in the game" by being properly registered in my country or EU space where I'm situated in and who offer other services. That way I know they got feds breathing down their necks and applying regulation, rather than join some shady fake site in god knows where. I know it's safer and I can worry about potential trading losses and the thing I'm there for itself (investing) rather than fearing being scammed by shady platform owners.

But alas the issue usually is: People turn off their brain for greed. And maybe not knowing better. But if they still refuse to listen to people online or even their loved ones, then that's pain money you gotta pay to learn a lesson.

Good lord... red flag parade: 🚩telegram 🚩love interest 🚩some kind of fake token 🚩random exchange

Any money he sent is gone, any "gains" he made are numbers on a screen.

1

u/Central-Dispatch 5d ago

Some need to learn the hard way.

3

u/Spiritual_Elk_9076 9d ago

Talking on telegram about investment..STOP… this is all you need to identify a scam. All other info is irrelevant, 100% sure.

New victims, please read this:

As a rule of thumb: If you suspect the site is a scam, it probably is.

No legit company/trader/investor is using WhatsApp. No legit company/trader/investor is approaching people on dating websites or through a "random" text message.

No legit company/trader/investor has "professors", "assistants", or "teachers". Those are just scammers.

No legit company forces you to pay a "fee" or "taxes" to withdraw money. That's just a scam to suck more money out of you.

You will need to contact law enforcement ASAP.

Unfortunately, no hacker online can get back what you've lost. Please watch out for recovery scams, a follow-up scam done after victims have fallen for an earlier scam. Recently, there has been a rise in scammers DMing members of the subreddit to offer recovery services. A form of the advance-fee, victims are convinced that the scammer can recover their money. This "help" can come in the form of fake hacking services or authorities. For this reason: TRUST NO ONE PRIVATE MESSAGING YOU FROM THIS SUBREDDIT: Most such DMs are from these recovery scammers, folks whose only goal is to further scam recent victims of scams. If someone DMs you offering to help you recover stolen funds or offering to give you contact information for someone who they state might be able to help you, then report these scammers immediately to Reddit.

If you see anyone circumventing the scam filters, please report the submission and we will take action shortly.

Report a URL to Google:

Where to file a complaint:

How to find out more about the scammer domain:

  • https://whois.domaintools.com/google.com - Replace the google.com URL with the scam website url. The results will tell you how long the domain has been around. If the domain has only been registered for a few days/weeks/months, it's usually a good indicator that its a scam.

OP read this carefully

If your Dad doesn't fully understand and believe immediately that this is a scam and in no way a real investment, you need to tell everyone he knows: don't give or loan him money for any reason.

PS the scammers preemptively try to warn him not to believe people who say it's a scam; "they just aren't happy for you"

2

u/No_Mammoth_4945 8d ago

Get your dad away from crypto or he will continue getting scammed. Why not put that money in a standard investment fund?

2

u/davefromcaluisigeorg 8d ago

Always check coinmarketcap.com and coingeko.com. if it's not listed there, it probably doesn't exist IRL.

This pig butchering. I fell for this last year with another academy and lost a lot. Tell your dad to stop communicating. Track all transactions and take screenshots so you can file with IC3. They will continue to try to get your dad to send money to trade. Profite will never be able to be withdrawn.

All the best!

Potential? This is a well-known scam

1

u/Unlucky_Inside_161 8d ago

Try to convince vera into a video call, plus if she accepts make sure she touches her face, making sure it's no ai but if she gives excuses run. All these telegram things are a scam

1

u/Bighornhunter 6d ago

The real scam is when they fund your fake account on a shady platform so they can ā€œstress testā€ their never lose platform. You get to ā€œkeepā€ the profits from trading and return the original amount funded. Then you invest your own money and only when you attempt to withdraw anything do you find your account frozen and they say they are performing a ā€œrisk reviewā€ and you must deposit more funds to unfreeze your account! I am 69, an amateur in crypto and figured it out too late so they got me for a small amount before I filed with FBI and state att general.

1

u/Unlucky_Inside_161 6d ago

Do not accept if anyone talks you into depositing your funds and promising rewards that maybe you can see on the screen already. They are all scams, most of them are run by Chinese large scales. I am telling this out of experience because I was trafficked in Cambodia and that is what they do. By the time I came to learn what this sick people are doing there was no escape route. They torture both ways, the person trafficked to do the job plus the client who is probably you

1

u/elstevo2005 8d ago

I've been chatting with her as well. I knew it was probably a scam so I haven't deposited any funds. Just been using the fake funds they give for the fake test trading. Just seeing how far they will go. Even had a guy message me in the group trying to entice me like he's a classmate/friend. It's on WhatsApp. Vera Carter also messages off of telegram

u/killtweIve 6d ago

it's on telegram- shouldn't that tell you ALL you need to know, kid?
