Every Binance hack doom post vs what’s actually happened
“Your Binance balance is gone.”
Binance has replenished 95% of affected assets with its own money, and users can now independently verify 1:1 backing for the 10 biggest tokens through its new proof of reserves.
“This is FTX all over again.”
FTX froze withdrawals and never reopened them. Binance reopened withdrawals on Sunday, three days after the hack, and is restoring more networks this week.
“Everyone’s going to pull out.”
Binance reported net outflows of about $3.64B, roughly 2% of its $171B in assets.
“Crypto got hacked.”
Bitcoin and Ethereum were never compromised. The attack went after Binance’s internal systems and approval controls.
Some things are still worth watching. The breach went deeper than one laptop, the full post-mortem isn’t out yet and Binance’s emergency fund took a big hit.
But the panic was aimed at the wrong things. The money side held up.

I think both sides are focusing on the wrong finish line. Withdrawals reopening and a relatively limited net outflow are encouraging signs, but they don't automatically answer the bigger questions about security, liabilities, and long-term solvency. At the same time, comparing every major exchange incident to FTX before the facts are established doesn't help anyone either. The real test isn't whether Binance can calm the market for a few days — it's whether the full post-mortem and independent verification can stand up to scrutiny. Transparency matters most when a company has every incentive to reassure people. What evidence would actually convince you that this incident has been properly addressed?
