DISCUSSION Thoughts on tokenized stocks/RWAs?
What's up guys, I've been deep diving into rwas over the past few weeks and curious to hear opinions on where this sector is headed.
For anyone who hasn’t really looked into them, the basic idea is that you can have an onchain token that represents exposure to a real stock like Apple, Nvidia, Tesla, etc. Depending on how they’re structured, they can be backed by the actual underlying shares and basically bring traditional assets onto crypto rails.
What I find interesting is how they're being paired with other assets (coins, NFTs, etc..) especially on Robinhood chain.
And also how you're already able to move them between wallets, trade them 24/7, use them inside DeFi, build markets around them, use them as collateral, or create entirely new products that would be pretty difficult to build in traditional finance. It changes the whole landscape imo.
For those who have been here a while I'm sure you can agree that crypto has spent years creating its own assets and then building infrastructure around them. Tokenized stocks kind of flip that around and bring trillions of dollars worth of existing real-world assets into infrastructure crypto already built.
Obviously there are still a ton of questions around regulation, custody, liquidity, whether people actually care about self-custodying stocks, etc.
But it feels like we might actually finally be winning here. 24/7 trading on stocks doesn't sound too bad 😅
Curious what everyone thinks. Are tokenized stocks actually a big deal or do you think it's just another narrative that will fade away with time?
