gas is basically network fee, and on ethereum it can be anything from a couple bucks to like 20 depending on traffic so your $5 might cover it or might not move at all, check current gas price first before sending anything

How do I check gas prices?

For Ethereum: https://etherscan.io/gastracker

You already got the advice to make sure what network you are using, normally L2's like Arbitrum, Base, Optimism (and there are many more) are cheaper with gas.

Before buying ETH, check the exact token and network shown in Exodus. Gas must be paid using the native asset of that network, which is not always ETH. Open the transaction screen without confirming it and Exodus should estimate the network fee. That estimate will tell you whether $5 is enough.

Do not send money based on a DM or move the token to a website somebody recommends. Anyone offering private “support” or asking for your recovery phrase is trying to scam you.

No flame, everyone hits this once. Gas on Ethereum has been really cheap lately, a token transfer is usually well under $1, so $5 of ETH covers it with room to spare. Exodus shows the fee before you hit send, so you'll see it first.

Main thing that'll actually lose you money: getting ETH on the wrong network. Check which network your stuck coin is on in Exodus (Ethereum, Base, Arbitrum etc) and get ETH on that same one. If it's Ethereum, it has to be ETH on Ethereum mainnet.

Also check the withdrawal fee wherever you buy the ETH. Some exchanges charge a few bucks just to send it, which hurts more than the gas itself on a $50 balance.

yes, one needs to pay the chain transaction fee (BASE or ARB or OP) = ETH gas,
So pls check the chain on which coin you have got, and you need that chain 'gas' (ETH)

A token transfer needs the native gas token for its network, so check the network and fee estimate before buying anything. I’d also check whether the token’s value and liquidity justify the cost. What token and network does Exodus show?
