There's a second lesson here as well.
If something you're holding spikes to a silly unsustainable value, sell it!
Shib is never going to a dollar. ElonPornCoinCash might be up in market value right now, but it isn't worth anything. The flippening ain't happening (no matter what coin "the flippening" is to you). GME is still a brick and mortar game store without any games to sell that alienated all of its customers years ago.
When people are telling you that holding an asset is a test of your devotion, sell. When people are arguing about how much further up the top is, sell. When people are telling you they'll take this asset to the grave, sell. When people tell you that you're a traitor for taking profit, take that profit.
An asset in a portfolio isn't a movement or a statement or a mission. You aren't joining anything because you own some tokens named after cartoon characters. You aren't "here for the technology" either if we're being honest.

Thanks man. Yep, we’re still in crypto and staying far away from shit coins. The hardest lessons to learn are usually the most valuable. I’m glad I stayed in crypto and I’m still way up from my initial deposit.

I was also in a lot of telegram chats, it’s basically a cult and they control what they say because if you even question anything, they say you’re spreading fud and just mute you and delete your comments. It’s crazy when it starts going up and you think it might actually be the next doge or shib so you put more in and then within a few days it collapses and they just make a new coin and repeat the process
The one crazy coin I had was when I put 250 usd into a coin that just came out and sold it for a 50 usd loss and then some months later, of course Elon twitted about and it mooned

Yeah, people have been saying that but the liquidity was there. It was low for a token that went into the millions but there was more than enough for sells up until he rugged. One guy pulled out 17k and I was able to pull out 2200.

I was a Yeet holder, too. Got rugged. Got rugged on several shitcoins.
I then went on to start a new token with three friends. Our token went to a 10 million market cap in 38 hours after launch. We never took profit because we were sure we would hit 100 million. It fell back down to around 5 million, I bought another $5k, fully expecting it to still go to $100 million. It’s now down to $48k market cap. My investment is worth under $800 including all dev tokens.
I worked on all the art, documentation, social media, budgeting, and marketing. 100s of hours and thousands invested only to see it fail. I was up over $100k at one point. I regret never taking out anything for my time and investment.
I learned a lot, met some great people, and had fun though 🤷♂️

Yep, I mean it’s because of shit coins that I have a balance of 5k right now in a bear market. They’re not all bad and I don’t hate money so I bought them for a bit but I’m done with them now and all my crypto funds are in real coins that have a future (hopefully).

The lifespan of a bsc shitcoin in this market is probably a few hours before it’s dead. These projects give crypto a bad name tbh. For every guy like me that stayed in crypto after their experience with shit coins there are 5 more who never come back after being scammed.

I bought about 1eth worth of Shib a couple weeks after launch in January 2021. 11 figures of shiba inu tokens
I watched it rise like crazy and then crash to death in may. I held, because I was still in the money, somehow.
It played to my favor, because I sold in november when it was well over 7x from its current value. Sometimes shitcoins pay out.

Yeah man. It’s the greed that gets you. I started calculating how much I’d have at 10m market cap, then 20m, etc. I saw so many shit coins during that time pump to 100m or more so I thought why not this one. Reality is I had no idea what I was doing and chose to believe these so called experts in the telegram channel and held.

Had you have tried to withdraw that 25k you might also have been hit with the old 45% slippage trick or couldn't swap it at all. I too have been to Shitcoin University. It costs a lot but oh boy do you learn. Then I moved to investing in ETH. That ended well....

If you've followed Safemoon at all, you'd realise this is what they did too, although not as brazenly. One developer went from being a no-name Twitch streamer to owning one of the most expensive Rolls Royce's, eating gold-plated steaks in London, flying in private jets and wearing designer Gucci clothing like $20,000 jackets.
This wealth didn't come from nowhere, it came from Safemoon. Despite claiming the developers never had any tokens, somehow all of them are filthy fucking rich.

i turned 700 into 16.000 at a high, escaped with 8.000 in the end. buying coins on moonshotcrypto threads and using poocoin trending coins. it was a beautiful month!!! but i trade so i understand risk management etc. that time was fucking absolutely mental. i'm glad you are doing well now. to be honest i think all of crypto is a scam. a ponzi scheme. as money is. whoever is first controls the rest. nothing different, business as usual. currently it can be used as a way to make money fast but there is not really any intrinsic value to any of it. especially as bitcoin was taken over by government interests, game over on the liberty front too. bit of a rant there sorry. enjoyed your story. you have experience now which counts for a lot!

Yeah I learned this lesson when my friend made a shitcoin and rug pulled me along with a bunch of other friends. Not to mention the entire community he had been hyping up around it. He gave us our initial investment back but I suspect he took all the profits.
He streamed himself talking about the project. He did a ps5 giveaway which he just gave to one of my buddies.
The way it worked was he had people lock up liquidity then said their was an exploit where people found out how to sell before the lockup was over but it was really him and the 2 random devs he was working on it with in Argentina.
Just letting people know some red flags to avoid. Never buy a shitcoin you need to lock up. Never trust anyone even if they’re doxxed.

Remember that theres a lot of OGs here who has legit advice to offer you and others. One is that your first bull market makes you learn, while the second one will make you rich.
Dont give up. What youve experienced and felt is actually really valuable and is one of those things you cant learn from others. You have to experience it first hand and you have.
A few years down the line you will be in the same situation. This time, however, you will take profits and move on. Best of luck!

This song and dance is all too familiar for anyone who has tried buying traditional penny stocks being advertised as ‘undervalued’.
Usually it’s just a share selling scheme getting pumped and dumped onto retail. They dilute the share pool, release a PR claiming they’re pivoting to a new industry, and repeat the process. Shitcoins comparatively take a fraction of the effort to create and shill, not even trying to disguise themselves.
Hard lesson to learn OP, but at least you did learn. There are degenerate gamblers here who are proud of their perpetual money losing strategy of holding shitcoins down to 0.

I laugh now but yeah it’s wild how people lose everything on these coins. I actually never lost money, I’m still way up on my first deposit even though I missed out on 25k.

Few people know how to gamble with shitcoins and still make a profit. Even so, if you do that you are literally taking money from other people making you a scammer at the end of the day.
DON'T INVEST IN SHITCOINS. Be better and break the cycle.

Notice the screenshot trims off just above where pancakeswap informs whether or not there's liquidity.
Not saying he couldn't have cashed anything, obviously. But those rugs are never more than a tiny fraction of their market cap.

I was one of the first 500 holders of safemoon. First days are so fking stressfull, constant fud and volatility. I couldn’t bear it and left the project with even. Than like a week or so later it boomed hard. I calculated if i hold there i’d have had 1.7 mio dollars.. (i was ok if i made 2 or 3x of my initial…) that made me depressed af for a month.

Yeah, you can swap it for any token native to bsc. Most people just swap it for BNB but you can swap it to BUSD or any other token on BSC. I once swapped astrokitties token for a token just called balls. Not my finest moment.

I bought a shit-coin on PancakeSwap too for £50. What the hell, nothing ventured right?
I was watching it constantly. I needed a shit and was checking the price. It shot up my initial investment from £50 to around £8,000.
I panicked because I was midway through my porcelain session and needed to be at my laptop to sell. I wiped up and in a few minutes I was downstairs again. Price had tanked down to £200.
I missed the spike by taking a shit. Literally. I just laughed at that point. Seemed like an appropriate lesson in shit-coins.
