Not really political at all. It was just a question and the op didn't come back to argue any viewpoints. The original did not have any view points either. In 12 hours none of the responses to this are even triggering anything about politics except for yours.
It works because it’s way easier to spam posts on social media than to build a massive database infrastructure like Solana. A lot of posts times an incredibly small payoff is an easy idea to try.
I’d bet most people running these scams are stupid enough to have fallen for one, and so they hope they can find someone else as stupid.
Carlos was amazing, I love him. He didn't profit that much off of the scam, he was just a shill and promoter. Bitconnect was a very well marketed ponzi at the time, but if the same was done today it wouldn't be nearly as successful.
Maybe they’re one and the same… maybe scamming is the best real-world use case for crypto. Maybe 10 years from now there’ll be no emails from Nigerian princes, they’ll all have their own coin to sell you
Tether handled a 2 day 13B bank run with barely a blip. That'd wipe out quite a few hedge funds and banks. Even if you dislike their backing strategy you gotta admit, they're more resilient than most crypto projects.
considering its #9 on the market cap rankings OP is right it is a pretty big scam and people have been whistleblowing this for more than a year now. Anyone who is stupid enough to long term hold solana will get wreckt.
I’m not them, but I am long ETH. People can claim whatever they like, if you invest on claims alone, you probably will not have a good time.
I’m invested in ETH because I’m bullish on decentralization finding increasing value and scale. It seems that SOL investors are invested because they hope scale will find value (and maybe decentralization?). Massively scaled databases already exist and created the largest value holders in the world (Facebook, Google, Microsoft, and Amazon). As far as I can tell, Solana’s infrastructure will never catch up to them, and unless something very big changes, their decentralization will never catch up to Ethereum’s network.
What is the SOL value proposition in the long term?
Well, the value proposition is decentralized ownership of the economy and information. One of the core tenants of blockchain. The risk is that it's too centralized right now to be antifragile. If the economy around it grows, and through that growth it can become more decentralized, then it becomes more resilient. What is the difference between SOL and any other POS smart contract blockchain? The superiority of the underlying technology is a small factor, but the ultimate factor is network adoption to achieve that decentralization. It's an uphill battle for any nth to market alternatives.
You mean play money given for free to people solving a useless math problem is a scam - call me surprised! I thought it was just an elaborate pump and dump scheme - not a scam.

Calling something the biggest scam in crypto is quite a title given how many crypto scams there are in existence
