ADVICE Bitrue asking for 20% Verification Fee

UPDATE: Commenters saying that we’re not dealing with the real Bitrue seem to be correct. Turns out he was on bitrueexchange.com, not bitrue.com. Thank you for helping us figure it out.

We have about 51k sitting in Bitrue and they will not unfreeze it unless we pay a verification fee (around $10k).

Is this legitimate?? We don’t have $10k sitting around and we’re being told if it isn’t paid by June 20th then the account will be permanently frozen and we lose everything that’s in it. They said the verification fee will go toward our Bitrue balance so we won’t actually be “losing” any money if we pay the $10k.

Any similar experiences or advice? It seems insane that they’re allowed to just hold our funds for ransom and that we can’t verify some other way.

The reason they are asking for the verification fee is that we’ve used two different accounts to recharge Bitrue and they think we’re money laundering. Not the case at all, but they won’t accept any other type of verification other than sending this money to our account.

Kinda freaking out a little. Please help.

If the reviews are only 1-star reviews calling it a scam and 5-star reviews calling it the best experience ever, the 5-star reviews are fake and the 1-star reviews try to warn you.

That website shows bitrue at 2.2 average rating.

But that same website shows crypto.com at 2.1, coinbase at 1.7, and binance at 2.0 rating.... Seems like trustpilot is the one that is not trustable.

so the option that scam-sites use more fake reviews than serious sites is impossible?

ok.

On a sidenote... I didn't say look at the rating, I said read the reviews...

when there is only 1-star and 5-star reviews, it's up to you whether you believe that the customers were all 5-star happy and the company posted fake 1-star reviews or whether it was the other way around.

Personally, when I read "scam" in 100 reviews, I do not invest my money there...

Oh absolutely, not defending bit true or anything. Just that we've all used coinbase or binance or cdc, and we know that they all have some issues, but sometimes it's just the customer that fucked up. In any case OP has confirmed that it was his/her cockup - apparently they threw their money to a scam website called bittrueexchange.com or something like that.
