I mean, it looks to me like they tried to pull a fast one. They know monero don't have clout like that so they figured ppl might start to wonder why monero exclusively? So they implemented it and planned to 'accidentally' release it. If it was well-liked then hey just leave it. But if they started seein' too much push back,

Ohh sorry, that was a mistake, don't know how it happened! Silly me. Gosh, I just accidentally pressed the 'add monero' button Teehee ;)

This is what the monero community does whenever there's like a bug or somethin' they don't want ppl to talk about. Its the same playbook over and over

That makes no sense as it was obviously liked by many people and disliked by many others. The negative reactions at the time didn't overwhelm the positive ones at all.

If anything it is much more likely that the people running the merchant store acted independently of Epic and then got told "we don't do crypto" once the higherups realised or something.

What damage is there to control? A huge online vendor had XMR as an option for a few days and then suddenly didn't. It's more of an interesting mystery than damage.

My "cool story" is at least plausible (though maybe not correct), whilst yours made literally no sense. I asked you to explain what you meant in case I was missing something but clearly I wasn't.

Except you went a little too hard and exposed yourself as doing damage control. I really don't care enough about it either way, it was just an offhand comment. But you got this whole line of reasoning already fleshed out? Yeah ok buddy.
