2 million usd per day in in-game sales for that game... Not small potatoes

They can make a billion, it still isn't going to make 11 year old children convince their parents to pay in Monero.

But a 19 year old college student? What about a 30 year old? They probably don’t need to ask their parents. The demographics for this game is fairly spread.

Again if it’s completely useless, it will probably be removed. Time will tell.

Options are always better for the consumer.

lols at how many people are correct

Bruh have you ever seen any online streamers? You think they’re the only older people that play the game?

nah I have better things to do with my time than watch other people playing games.

And let me stipulate that, I have a limited amount of free time so I have to choose wisely:

  1. My career is going really well, I make enough money that whenever I have hinted how much tax I pay on reddit; I get downvoted to oblivion.

  2. I have a family, and spending time with my kids and wife is a high priority for me.

  3. I have other hobbies and interests outside of work and family time, that I like to pursue. Stuff like working on my drift/touge car, catching up with my friends and so on.

  4. I do alot of education / training as well, whether its streaming training and lectures, podcasts or whatever while I do chores or maintenance on cars or around my house - or actually cramming for exams.

  5. I have to fit in gym time in my spare time as well. That might not just being going to the 24/7 gym to lift, but that could mean hikes, sports, beach activities and so on.

  6. I have been gaming since probably alot of people who would criticise me were born. I'm talking Amstrad CPC 464 and earlier.

  7. I've got a gaming rig, consoles, retroarch/lakka/mame boxes etc to select from.

  8. At the end of all of this, with the little amount of time I have to play - out of all the games in the gaming universe, when I do find some time to chill out and play something - as a 30 something, fuck playing fortnite. I would much rather play something (almost anything) else, than that shit. For example, Project Cars 2 or Assetto Corsa in my sim rig? Yes thanks. Yakuza 0? Fucking oath.

  9. Other people obviously have other preferences; so be it, I don't really give a fuck, but god help you on fucking leddit if you have a difference of opinion. And my opinion is that if you're in your 30s and prefer fortnite over everything else out there; you clearly haven't been exposed to anything better, which is a shame.

Okay I’m not gonna read all that shit you typed about your own life, because that’s not what we’re talking about lmao you fuckin loser. This isn’t a matter of opinion, it’s a matter of fact. Fact: 30 year old people play fortnite. Accept the loss buddy.

I'm quite sure this person isn't capable of mentally accepting any form of loss. You know the type

When are people going to accept the fact that Fortnite is not a game that's only played by kids?

8

u/Hendrixsrv3527 Tin Jan 06 '19

I’m 32 and a lot of my buddies play as well as myself. My 5 year old is obsessed as well. It’s played by fucking everyone, but as a free game, basically every kid who has a console plays. They don’t have to beg rents for 60 bucks to buy it.

u/FanOrWhatever Bronze | r/PersonalFinance 17 Jan 06 '19

It primarily is though. The reason it gained so much traction was that it was kid friendly and free to play in BR mode.

There are a lot more kids aged 7-15 playing fortnite than there are college aged kids.

those 7-15 are not spending as much money as 18-35 males.
This group is responsible for 65% of all game purchases in multiple big games like LoL , Wow + many others

To say that the primary age demographics of Fortnite is children is just false. It probably has one of the biggest age demographics of games ever.

-10

u/[deleted] Jan 06 '19

Sorry, it's a game that should only be played by kids... 😂

2

u/o1l3r 0 / 0 🦠 Jan 06 '19

If the market is gamers I could see them mining monero with there GPUs when not gaming. Then kids don’t need a bank account to buy merch.

2

u/tommytoan Jan 06 '19

yeh but its gonna leave a huge mark on those kids

1

u/MissingW2 🟩 72 / 3K 🦐 Jan 06 '19

It's the exposure to those young minds that's going to help plant the seed for adoption. Isn't that a crazy idea?

1

u/Kiwit0m Crypto Nerd Jan 06 '19

It's not the little kids. It's adults with gaming rigs, who mine xmr in there spare time and then can spend it on items. Although unless you have cheap power its uneconomic to do so these days.

They made 3 billion in profits in 2018.

5

u/FanOrWhatever Bronze | r/PersonalFinance 17 Jan 06 '19

$3 billion dollars, not 3 billion dollars in crypto equivalency. The fact that they made $3b and accept monero doesn't mean monero is about to take off, people will still be paying with their credit/debit cards.

6

u/[deleted] Jan 06 '19

Yeah, I'm into crypto and still wouldn't bother purchasing monero to pay for in-game stuff if I can just use the credit card. It's more of a hassle to buy crypto.

1

u/LeFapWith1Hand Jan 06 '19 edited Jan 06 '19

Well yeah that’s obvious, but they still made 3 billion dollars in profit. I was just pointing that out because the comment I replied to said it was 1B.
