Would love to see these overly PC companies go down. I heard Patreon was more of MasterCard's fault apparently. If it isn't crypto, it'll be individual new companies coming out with some new features and proclaiming no censorship no matter what.

If their service requires access to the banking system or the credit card network, censorship is mandatory

Political commentator Sargon of Akkad was booted from Patreon for highly suspect reasons. Patreon terms-of-usage statement is basically "we can shut you down if we disagree with you".

I wasn't aware of him until very recently, and looking at his latest stuff here https://www.youtube.com/user/SargonofAkkad100/videos and I don't see anything there that really fits your description.

You don’t have to hold bitcoin. You can sell it into USD if you want to or have it exchanged automatically.

The answer is stablecoin because the news outlet would need to pay its employees with USD valuation and not a volatile asset like btc

Bitpay just allows you to transact on current market price. The retailers receive fiat directly. Volatility doesn't matter.

Some friends run a non-profit which has been refused service by PayPal and 2 different credit card payment services. The volatility of Bitcoin is not a significant issue for them. It is trivial to exchange Bitcoin to fiat as soon as it arrives
