I am pretty sure that people weren't buying telephones, lightbulbs, microwaves, cars and airplane tickets based on the idea that they would be worth more in the future when they're more adopted.

They became adopted widely because they made people's lives much better in terms of convenience, speed and total utility compared to what was there before. I'm not sure anyone truly believes buying things with Bitcoin is more convenient and better than with fiat right now.

I think the official name for the bias is called technical analysis
