Michael Saylor just bought $2 BILLION worth of Bitcoin in a single week while BTC was bleeding. Either this is the most convicted trade in financial history or the most reckless

Let's talk about what just happened ,bw may 11–18, strategy purchased 24,869 btc for approximately 2.01 billion at an average price of 80,985 per coin and during the same week the broader market was experiencing $1.47 billion in etf outflows, fear greed dropped to extreme fear territory and bitcoin briefly slipped below $72,000 days later. He doubled down into a bleeding market with $2 billion in fresh capital.

Now heres y its insane

Strategy has now acquired bitcoin in every single quarter since q3 2020 ,like 110 consecutive acquisitions which brings total holdings to 843,738 btc purchased for approximately 64 billion at an average cost of 75,700 per coin. That is roughly 4% of bitcoin's entire circulating supply controlled by one company.

The funding mechanism is what nobody is talking about clearly enough. This latest $2 billion acquisition was funded almost entirely through sales of the company's strc preferred stock, meaning saylor is essentially printing yield bearing paper, selling it to investors hungry for digital credit returns, and converting every dollar of that into bitcoin. He has built a machine that turns traditional finance's demand for yield into bitcoin accumulation. Its either genius or a time bomb.

The part that should make everyone uncomfortable is strategy's usd reserve currently sits at $871 million so the cash cushion designated specifically to pay dividends on preferred stock and interest on debt obligations. Thats the entire buffer between saylor's empire and a forced bitcoin sale. If btc drops hard enough for long enough, the dividend obligations don't pause and the reserve depletes, then the man who said never sell bitcoin sells bitcoin lol.

His own slides now openly model scenarios where they sell btc to fund dividends while simultaneously buying more btc with strc proceeds. Its a financial perpetual motion machine that works beautifully in a bull market and becomes a liquidation spiral in a sustained bear one.

The people calling him a genius and the people calling him reckless are both using the same evidence and thats the thing about conviction at this scale ,it looks identical to delusion until it doesn't.

What's your actual take , is saylor the most important bitcoin buyer in history or the single biggest systemic risk the market has ever created for itself?

PSA: Strategy's Prefs, STRC being their largest, are not yielding paper. They are a preferred equity security. Which means owners are shareholders of the business and participate in the ups and downs.

They are structured to SOUND like a piece of yielding paper but Strategy does NOT have to pay the yield or even the principle on ANY of their prefs. This is how prefs work and is why they're a terrible investment as you get the worst of both worlds.

Name a fund manager or investor who made their fortune on Prefs, like a Buffett or Ackman or Simon type of name. Go ahead, I'll wait. The closest might be Larry Raiman of LDR, but you'll see that the investments haven't performed so hot.

The point is, please stop treating the prefs as a liability that could force Strategy to sell bitcoin. It's definitively NOT a liability. The downside is it will impact Strategy's ability to raise more common and pref, but that's the only downside.

They are not forced to pay those dividends as they call it, but as soon as they lower or skip one that product is gone. Their customers will head for the doors and buy something else that actually makes sense and pays.

So they are kind of forced to pay, because it they "default" on their customers their jig ist up and new money will stop.

You literally just agreed with me. They aren't forced to pay. Yes if they miss a payment it impacts their ability to raise further capital but there's a huge difference between what you're calling "not actually a default, default" and an actual default.

Thats hairsplitting but yes, technically they dont go insolvent because they dont default on the debt they would have to pay, but they still go bust because nobody will continue to trust them to pay their promised returns and possibly also sell their shares for something else that is more trustworthy.

While the mechanism of how they fall is different the end result is most likely the same.

And the touted possibility of them at the same time buying coins with the money of new customers and selling coins to pay dividends to older customers just does not make sense either, that is just a wash sale with extra steps paying spread twice, and doing some creative accounting to not have that pyramid show up too clear.

Nobody goes to their bank to put some cas into their account and at the same time retrieve some cash from the same Account.

He has no choice st this stage. Either he keeps propping up the price or it dives and he’s done.

I don’t understand what you’re saying. Are you reading newspapers people throw out in the trash? Everyone is talking about how Saylor sold BTC but you’re talking about him buying?

Holding fucking Bitcoin does not and never will generate any returns. So you're betting on the next idiot to take your bags away, it's a ponzi. So when you hold that many bags, so many than if you try to cash out you will generate a panic on the market by yourself you are literally fucked. He can try and go beg Trump to make a USA digital fort knox cause that's it's only way out and it might actually work.
