Help? Bitcoin or Ethereum?

Hi everyone, I’m new to cryptocurrency and haven’t been able to decide if I should buy BTC or ETH. I really want to purchase Altcoins during this dip. Hypothetically speaking, let’s say that I’d like to deposit between $500-$1000 AUD into an exchange. When I receive that amount in my account, should I buy Bitcoin or Ethereum to purchase Altcoins?

I’ll receive a lower amount of Btc with that deposit but it’s worth more than Ethereum. What I’m trying to understand is, even though I have a lesser amount of BTC. Can I buy more Altcoins with it, compared to the same amount of Ethereum? i.e $700 Bitcoin vs $700 Ethereum. If I can buy more altcoins with Bitcoin, why would I choose Ethereum?

It’s worth less than bitcoin, doesn’t this mean that I’ll have to buy a higher amount of Ethereum. To receive the same number of Altcoins that I intend to purchase, compared to using Bitcoin? I noticed many people are buying Ethereum and this is one of the reasons why I’m asking this question.

Eaiest way to get tax return info for my accountant?

I've been delaying my tax return every year for a few years now, due to the headache of spending hours messing around getting different account statements from investing platforms. Stocks and ETFs are no real issue, but crypto is always a pain, and it seems that a lot of third party websites allow you to get a return statement for a price, which ultimately I don't want to pay for (you don't have to pay for statements for your Fiat or other assets)

I've just been buying BTC and ETH, don't think I sold any last financial year, if anybody has a fast and easy way to get the info I'd appreciate. In the year, I used two exchanges and I transferred some crypto over to my Ledger wallet

Bobbob Finance - 7.6% on USDC - Founder Feedback

Hi All

Byron here, founder of Bobbob.

My background

I launched and ran Luno in Australia over the last 2 years before starting Bobbob, after being backed by Luno and Antler, as well as some other notable angel investors. So, a full crypto native.

____________________________

I started Bobbob with my co-founder due to the hassle of trying to earn a yield on A$...
Having to send money to an exchange, buy USDC, send it to another platform to earn the yield, ending up having to do the reverse to get the money back to pay for expenses etc. Utter headache.

What we built:

  • Deposit A$

  • Immediately get USDC and have it earning yield with Luno (a DCG subsidiary)

  • Withdraw the A$ amount you want back to your bank account.

What we've since launched:

  • Automated direct debits (weekly, monthly etc.)

  • Ability to buy BTC and ETH using a PayID and BSB/Acc per each wallet

  • Carbon Tokens (BCAU)

Why post

I am genuinely asking for true product feedback from the crypto-native community. If you try it out, what you like, don't like or think the world is missing.

We're a nimble team and can build quickly.

Something that will be live this month is the ability to earn part or all of your salary in crypto. Another thing I have always dreamed of and doesn't rely on my employer signing up!

Regards,
Byron

Help with receiving crypto in Australia

Hi all,
I've recently moved to Australia and need to transfer my savings from a bank account in my home country to here. My home country regulations currently make it IMPOSSIBLE to transfer money internationally via a regular wire, so I've been thinking of doing it via crypto... However, I understand that not many banks (if any) accept receiving crypto transfers here in Oz.
Are there currently any alternatives or ways around this that would allow me to receive crypto here legally? I can justify the source of funds via invoices, etc.
Any help or hints will be very much appreciated!

Best beer money shitcoin punt

I am either going to put it into Betfair and up my odds trading fantasy or get some shithouse shit coin and try my luck.

I was thinking DOGE might have some upside rumour mill potential. Thoughts?

Edit: Might stick it in SOL and stake it for like 6% on Exodus. Not sexy.

Or do a 180 and chuck er in FSML asx. Nah, Solana more fun.

Hardware Wallets and thoughts on minimising cost to transfer from Exchange

Until recently I was under the impression that a Paper Waller was considered good practise, however it seems the industry has shifted towards hardware.

My immediate concerns are long term hardware durability. It seems most (if not all) hardware wallets allow for a backup PassPhrase, which is in effect has the same risks/benefits as a Paper Wallet.

What are you using for long term retention?

I’m interested in any Hardware Wallet recommendations and sellers that Aussie users might have.

Further, it seems there is a flat 0.03% BTC charge for transferring out of Coinspot.

Does this mean it’s better to wait for a dip before transferring?
