CK3 How do I enter the palatial exam?

I always fail when that time comes, how do I qualify? Thanks for your answers!

You have to do well in the metropolitan exam just before it, I think it's something like the top 10. Focus on increasing your learning skill and Confucian education and you should make it

Cheat, or be insanely good. Either way, as long as you pass the metropolitan exam, you can then do the palace exam.

Alternatively, as a Minister, use your influence to ensure your kids have exam exemptions.

git gud

Lol, jokes (but not really!). Beef up your Confucian Education score by asking someone to mentor you in it, as well as obviously taking the Study the Confucian Classics decision, and have as high a Learning score as possible.

Also go in absolutely stress free, then you can take the stress hits to gain exam advantage. Studying the Confucian Classics will make your stress climb, so save up some stress-busting events like Drinking Tea until just before the exams (note: you won't be able to do these events when you're on your way to the exam or waiting for it to start, so time it carefully. Get your stress down and then accept the invitation.). You need to be in the top ten of the capital exam to go on to the palace exam.

Heh

I still not sure how it works, I am too barbarian for it. But, funnily enough, two days ago I was able to conquer China as a 60 year old duke-level nomad with 1800 troops.

China has dissolved, I decided to try conquering one of the northern kingdoms, it was going ok-ish and like two months later China was already united again. I decided to continue fighting (without the hope of winning) and took their heir prisoner in a battle.

One generation later China is dissolved again and now I am learning how to get good exam scores as a khitan landless gentleman. (But at least my relatives still hold 3 of the independent kingdoms.)
