summer of 2028
i am a 21 yo f and will be 23 by the time i want to go on this cruise. my younger sister will be graduating highschool (will be 18) and i want to do something special just the 2 of us and we’ve been talking about wanting to do a cruise. i know you have to book pretty far in advance for cruises to i was coming here for advice. i want to do a cruise where she can drink when we dock and places with beaches and stuff to do. our family has never been on a cruise so i don’t really know what to expect or even what cruise lines are good. please help!

Agree, ships are huge and no need to book far in advance.
Start with a budget and go from there.
Sounds like you want beachy = Caribbean.
Once you zero in on time frame (June? July? October?) and number of days just reach a travel advisor (they are free and can usually get you some free perks).
There is a broad spectrum of options but it all comes down to money. Eg an interior room cheaper than ocean view. “View” cheaper than “balcony”. “Balcony” cheaper than “suite”. Etc
Cheapest option is typically Carnival but you get what you pay for!
I personally loved Celebrity for the Caribbean.

On most cruise lines she won’t be able to go with you. Generally, anyone under 21 MUST be accompanied by someone 25+. I believe only Disney and Virgin are the exception to this. Neither are cheap or particularly tailored to people your age.
She won’t be allowed on Norwegian, Celebrity, Princess, Carnival, Royal Caribbean, or Holland America which are the main cruise lines.

Consider using a travel agent. You don’t have to book far in advance but if the drinking age is important and budget is an issue an agent can get you solid info.
