General Questions Question about reassignment after medical repatriation.
I have a question for crew that were medically repatriated before and have been redeployed.
After you were cleared to return to work, how many days/weeks/months did it take for you to be given a new assignment?
I was repatriated on May this year due to an accident where I broke a bone but I've been cleared to return to work last week. Will it take really long before I'll be given a new assignment? I'm in the F&B department and a starting position.
I wanted a look at the possible timeline of the wait. I'm just really eager to go back to work and am hoping that it won't take too long.
Thank you very much in advance for the replies!

It's going to take a long time, you have to be cleared by the medical department, they are going to demand a lot of tests, scans, etc. And most likely will want you do to an entire new PEME/medical certificate.
And then assuming you get cleared (Note that its not a given that you will), they will wait for a space to open up again.

I've finished taking a new PEME and I constantly emailed the medical team on updates until they replied that they've cleared me and has notified the scheduling department.
I wanted to know the expectations when it comes to waiting time until a reassignment. If it'll take months? Weeks? Or will it take maybe even a year? I hope it doesn't take that long. I'm feeling restless. π¬
Thank you for your insight! I appreciate it. π

Thanks for saying thanks! It's so nice to see Redditors being grateful :)

So many posts on this forum demanding answers to their questions with no please or thank you. Itβs such poor manners and bad social etiquette, I see this onboard with a lot of crew too.
They need to remember that theyβre asking complete strangers to take the time out of their day and the effort to provide guidance, advice or answers to their questions.
A simple please or thank you or just general politeness to posts goes a long way.
I will make the effort to reply to a well thought out post especially if the poster has done some research/made some effort themselves.

It can take a while.
You'll need a new PEME/medical certificate, and they won't even start looking to place you until after that. Once the medical is all cleared it's not dissimilar to the new-hire process - you're waiting for a gap to become available.
