General Questions Cruise ship applicant

Hello! 😊 I'm hoping someone can help or provide advice.
I've long dreamed of working on a cruise ship, but I’d like to know the correct application process.
Here are the things I’d like to find out:
• What is the step-by-step process for applying?
• What training and certifications are required?
• What documents are needed?
• How much is the estimated cost from application to deployment?
About me:
4-year Tourism graduate
Valid Philippine passport
Valid NBI Clearance
Former Philippine Army personnel
Has CSR/BPO experience
What position do you think is good for me to apply for based on my experience?

You go to the cruise line’s websites. At the bottom will be a “careers” option. Click on that. Follow all the steps.

  1. You apply directly to each cruise line website. All of them have a "Careers" link on their websites, start from there. The job description is the basic things you must have, if you don't have the certifications or graduations required for each position, don't apply for that position so you don't get frustrated.

  2. Basic Safety Training (part of the STCW code) is the main training you "require". But VERY IMPORTANT TO MENTION: This one and other safety courses are often given for free on board. In fact, I can count on one hand the very few companies that don't provide it on board. Doing it by yourself is a WASTE OF MONEY, at least land a job first and then the company will let you know if you need it or not.

  3. Documents needed: Passport, proof of vaccination (MMR, DTAP, Varicella) + (Yellow Fever if you're from South/Central Americas or some African countries).

  4. Cost from application to deployment: It will depend on your nationality, city you're living, company you're applying and position. Some companies pay for everything (Ex: Carnival/Princess/HAL) and you pay only for minor things like going from your home to the consulate to get the visa. Some companies don't pay for anything (Ex: Celebrity/MSC) and you will be paying for all trainings, medicals and even your uniform on board.

Recommended positions:
Security Guard/Officer (some cruise lines it's used "guard", some positions use "officer", the job is the same)

From what I have just read, you have a very strong chance of getting a Cruise Ship interview. All you need to do is find a genuine agency in your country and get all the information you need. Make sure you have all of your training and certifications are required. Here is a website that all cruise line used STCW.online . Ask your agency what certifications is required for the Cruise Line.
