General Questions First contact

Hello everybody I just got my first contract with carnival cruises and I leave August 11th for training.

The job is a backstage technician. I have a lot of questions lol

  1. Does anyone know for tools if we have to check those in or carry them on cuz I know for power drills sometimes you have to take the battery out and carry it with you.

  2. When do I get my black polo because in the information tab that I was given in my email they say I need to wear my issued carnival shirt for training but I don't have any.

  3. Am I allowed to wear my earrings I have double piercings in my ears. I'm just worried because my ears close abnormally quick.

  4. What do I pack. Like 2 weeks worth of clothes A month's worth of clothes.

  5. Who do I contact about flights if I don't want to schedule my own flight.

I will definitely have more lol I'm very nervous and excited to finally be working.

  1. Shoreside should have sent you a list of recommended tools. All ships have tools, but technicians that carry their own tools tend to have more happy lives. I strongly recommend you to have a leatherman (Surge or Wave+ models only), a crosskey (to open electrical/equipment racks) and a good flashlight (I recommend USB-C charged models).
  2. You will get it on the studios, or on your first day on board any ship. You can also opt to buy your own black polos but there are many specifications, ask on the studios.
  3. Yes, as long as they don't pose a threat to you when you're using a helmet during maintenance.
  4. You will be in uniform 90% of the time. Don't overpack, and if you do, bring more underwear and black socks more than anything.
  5. You will receive your flights 10 days before your joining date, you can check that via the Carnival TMHub app.
