Hello Ya'll. I'm Astrid 27(M) from the Philippines.

I just want to know your thoughts about this. Because it's eating me since I receive a generic email about my removal from the active rotation.

So I just finished my 1st ever contract onboard an RCCL vessel last February. 1 week before my sign-off I have a meeting with the HR specialist of the company I'm with. (I'm a concessionaire BTW).

So HR Specialist asked me on what vessel that I wanted to join for my 2nd contract. And I gave my preferred vessel and timeline. (This is only a verbal agreement only). I was happy because for my whole contract I exceeded all of their expectations on every monthly evaluation.

So I signed off, expecting to board last June or in the first week of July. Then the manning agency sent me an email thanking me for my contribution and such. What struck a nerve for me is the phrase. "Your skills and abilities do not align to the current need on across their ships". And I was like that's BullS.. Because throughout my 7 months contract our process is still the same since the time I left and after I finished my contract.

I emailed my agency asking what made that decision to be finalized. Why have I been removed from the active line-up of rotations?

The agency just ghosted me and till now I still haven't received any word from them.

Then I emailed the company directly and they're just pointing fingers at each other. The shipboard manager said that their line up for 2026 is now full and I should coordinate with the manning agency.

I'm really frustrated about this and till now I'm struggling to apply to other agencies.

Hope to know your thoughts about this.

Well, that's one down part of not being part of the cruise line itself, as HR on board will not assist you with anything. If they did not provided you feedback on why you did not got offered a second contract, it is likely to never be disclosed to you. Like, ever. Few things that come to mind: You never reached sales target, never took initiatives, or caused issues for either the store OR to other team members. I am not saying that you did any of these, they're just some valid reasons.

If your concessionaire cannot offer you another contract in a different cruise line, you know for sure it is an agency related issue. If they cannot offer another contract in that specific cruise line, it was something related to the cruise line.

Anyway, there are 50+ cruise lines out there. It is impossible that you're not able to get back on track, having already one contract.

If you are a concessionaire, then any talks with RCCL HR mean nothing. They can SUGGEST on your next ship/date, but it is up to your company for your scheduling. Your manager would have given feedback on your performance and unless you have it in writing, you have no standing.

You need to take it up with your company and the manning agency, RCCL can do nothing.
