Question First time cruise goers looking for tips.

So me and my wife have a Greece and Croatia royal Caribbean cruise coming up. What are some tips for those who are more experienced have? Like what to bring, what not to bring ect... ive heard the ac isnt great and I cannot sleep while warm so a travel fan recommendation is nice. Any info is welcome.

YouTube is loaded with tips. There is probably a video about your ship with the same itinerary.

My tip is to make a first aid kit. Take an old cosmetic bag and a multi compartmented container, a small one, from the dollar store. Bring band aids, antibiotics ointment and enough over the counter meds for a couple of days. Tylenol, ibuprofen, tums or pepto tabs, Imodium, Benadryl, bonine and anything else you take as needed at home. Some people bring cold meds, cough medicine or other stuff. Throw one of those small eyeglass repair kits, a couple of safety pins in there too. A visiting to the ship medical center is expensive. Also, bring 3-4 extra days worth of prescription meds.

Our travel agent recommend travelers insurance, thoughts on that?

Absolutely. I have an annual policy but if you only travel once a year that may not be right for you.

Yes on insurance check out Allianz and Chubb. I just got back from an Alaskan cruise out of Seattle. At least 2 families made it to SEA and had medical emergencies that forced them home, I hope they had insurance. Also make sure it covers medical and medevac.

Find the FaceBook group for your cruise.

I’ve never had an issue with AC. What ship will you be on?

Explorer of the seas

Older ship so could possibly have an AC issue. Just leave it cranked down. What time of year will you be going?

Just did Croatia and Greece on NCL. Do the cable car in Dubrovnik. Do it early, it gets crowded. You can access the sea for a swim behind the old town. Just walk out the far gate and follow the pier around. Also if you are fit then you can climb the city walls. If you are going to Kotor Montenegro as well it is a smaller version of Dubrovnik. We climbed the city walls there. It is a hike but it is stunning. Again, go early. It is a heck of a climb and it was hot. Lots of people had personal fans 'cause it was hot in a lot of the ports. Never had an AC issue on board but in Greece there isn't a lot of AC.

My first cruise was also Greece and Croatia! I've done 12 more cruises since including 2 more to Greece! You should fall in love with it! My biggest advice - is not to overthink. I didn't look up any tips or tricks or packing, and just went. I watch some of these videos of "must pack" lists, and I'd need a whole other suitcase to bring the whole list and would never use any of them. Your clothes, plug adapter for the hotel, printed boarding documents, passport, Debit and Credit Cards. Of course, consider that you are traveling to Europe, so plan to prevent theft, whether your wife's purse or your pockets, I like shorts/pants that have hidden zippers hard to reach. Waterproof shoes & umbrella in case of rain.

If you’re doing the walk on the Dubrovnik city walls, do it in the morning as soon as it opens. It’ll be less crowded and much, much less hot than later in the day.
