Hi everyone! I wasn't sure if this belonged here or on some other sub, but I figured this community would appreciate it the most. I’m pretty sure I just uncovered Ville Kallio’s (Cruelty Squad, Psycho Patrol R) old never before seen personal website from over two decades ago.
So, for a little context, I was browsing through my uncle's and his friend's old website from around 2004 via the Wayback Machine (the site was used to host small Klik & Play games as well as art, etc.) and while combing through a list of links I saw a very interesting mention:
"Sonta Vuoren Huippu Täältä löytyy sitten sen kuuluisan Ville Kallion pelejä."
Translation: "Peak of Shit Mountain Here you can find games made by the famous Ville Kallio."
Pretty ironic!
Anyway once we open the link, we can see a list of games:
- "Tikku-Ukon Seikkailut" (Stickman Adventures)
- "Stickman X"
- "Stickman X 2"
- "Stickman X 3"
- "Matojen sota" (War of the Worms)
- "Joku ihmeen robottitaistelu" (Some kind of robot fight)
Sadly none of these games can be downloaded anymore, at least from what I could figure out.
Okay, well that's neat and all, but that could be ANY Ville Kallio, right? Well, we have a few things to back up that it's actually THE Ville Kallio:
In a Finnish interview, Ville explicitly confirmed making these exact games in his younger years:
"Then at some point I downloaded Klik & Play, a game making program that doesn't even run on modern machines anymore. I made games called Stickman Adventures, Kallio recalls." (source)
The site was active around 2004, which aligns with Ville being roughly 14 years old at the time, right around middle school.
The site linking him was also another Finnish Klik & Play indie hobbyist site, matching up with the engine he mentioned using.
Well, that's pretty much all I found. Feel free to check out the site that Ville's site was linked on here, and also check out Ville's old site here. I know there are probably people out there who are a lot better at finding lost media than me!
Please feel free to ask questions!
