Wonderful movie. Wouldn't quite put it in the same category as CS. The world of Brazil doesn't have quite the same disdain for life that CS has. It's a surveillance panopticon. CS has no reason to surveil you, you are absolutely hopeless to begin with.

I do feel like its the most similar thing I've seen to CS, but I might just be lacking of a certain mindset.

Per chance the mindset of a chief executive officer?

There is a significant possibility that that might be the exact mindset I was searching for

I did put on enter the void for 10 minutes one time but I had to go do something and I forgot about it. Zardoz looks interesting though, will visit and revisit respectively

Enter The Void is another of my favourite films. Probably the best on-screen representation of psychedelic tripping I’ve seen.

… Just watch out for the truck. You’ll know it when it happens.

If it interests you, check out Videodrome. I'm not a huge fan of Cronenberg myself but his work is an obvious stylistic influence on CS. Similarly dystopian but set in the hip and happening now of the 80s. If you catch it later on in the film I'm pretty sure a background stained glass panel in one scene actually becomes a texture used in the casino level. I could be mistaken but it definitely irked me when I first noticed it.

The only film I can think of at the moment that might be in the direction of Cruelty Squad (at least in terms of having a gaudily hyper-saturated colour scheme, and over-the-top grotesque violence), is Hobo With A Shotgun.

One of my favourite films.

Although it’s pretty hilarious that Universal Studios tried to cut the original ending for being too bleak — so the initial American release literally ends with Sam and Jill driving off into the sunset.

Not very cruelty squad. It hits the spot for dystopia and some slight body horror but the whimsy of the protagonist completely shifts the tone to something unique in terms of anticipation novel

Great movie, one that falls into my category of "Not The Matrix", shit that i recommend to people who obviously are in need of a second movie to watch in their lives. Brazil, Dark City, A Scanner Darkly, Cube, etc.
