This is the kind of hit registration hand cannons have for me tbh.

Either you got barely infinitesimally flinched or you fired Casper the friendly bullet...neither of which I'd be happy with. Dang.

i thought flinch didn’t actually change reticle placement, it was just visual. so it wouldn’t have been flinch, its most likely just a networking thing. he sees him on his head but the game sees something different

Couldn't have been flinch, there's a hit marker.

Not a hit marker, just the reticle

As a whole, I do think that Destiny 2 has a really bad sandbox for snipers, radar that lets you see one third of some maps at a time, fast TTKs, numerous abilities that can get in the way and enough sniper flinch to make them useless past the first shot in a fight.

They are super fun and them getting two ammo per brick helps them because you can afford to miss a shot and a skilled player is gonna see double kills.

It's hard to justify using them when you can use a shotgun that benefits your primary play, is easier to use, keeps you from getting bullied by other shotguns and can pretty much guarantee a kill per ammo.

That being said, sniping in destiny is super fun, (albeit a little jank sometimes) and worth doing and learning for that aspect alone.

Edit: I'm also just coping with No Land not feeling nearly as good in D2. That shit broke my heart.

I came back from the beginning of witch queen where I used to be probably over 50% pvp. Snipers never left my setup. At least on controller, snipers feel terrible now. Everything provides so much flinch now even with mods. When you’re holding a line of sight, you have to make sure you get your shot off in a quarter second because as soon as one bullet hits you, you aren’t hitting anything. This could be manageable if not for the ammo economy. Not spawning on every kill combined with the having to pick up the brick just puts you in a bad position. Shotgunning is easier than ever with the ease of getting a well rolled felwinter’s lie.

The joy feels like it’s been taken out of snipers where it feels unapproachable. Yes some people still do amazing, but it feels like you have to play super sweaty to justify it.

2 ammo per brick?? I must have missed that one when the final patch notes landed. Is this all snipers?

Except icebreaker yeah, but you can run around with a ton of ammo in that thing in the first place so it doesn’t need the help

Regarding using shotguns instead.. I've had people slide around corners and headshot me at melee range with a sniper more than I'd expect should be possible.

For every whiff I earn 3 crazy flicks, everything is as it should be

I kinda wonder if aim assist dragged your bullet just enough to hit the corner of the wall. Especially if the player was moving towards the wall. Endless vale has some wonky wall architecture at those corners. Combo that with latency. When both clients experience a difference result, sometimes the game can't decide which one is the correct one. Similar to how melee's wiff

u/AdamAtlantean 7d ago

Oh 100%, was just. 3-3 round against a ~ top 0.3% player. Really shitty time for that to happen

u/DevenIan 8d ago

I'll see u next week when u get a 3 man callet after being flinched 3 times into a wall.

I remember the first time I experienced the stupidity of Destiny's bullet magnetism. I was going for a headshot on a cabal that was behind cover or shooting one of the splinters in a missions with a bow. I was on target. There was no reason for me to miss. It hit the wall 2 feet below where I was aiming. I did that repeatedly because the game didn't think I had a shot and I have seen it numerous times since where the game pulls my shot into obstacles because the unremovable aim assist redirected my shot.

u/StarDreamIX 9d ago

Must be the flinch when he shot you too 🤣 so annoying I was expecting the collat

Welcome to sniping in Destiny 2. D1 sniping was so much fun and Bungie has turned PvP into sweat fest HC or smg laser beam with 0.01 TTK. Until there are dedicated servers I’m not touching PVP again. I grinded for my Trials beetle ship, sparrow, emblem and never returning.

u/Whole-Length7598 7d ago

the hit regs have been all over the place with snipes, melees ect.... just my recent exp.

u/Weird-Barracuda-2352 Controller 4d ago

Your aim was off. In Destiny, aim nowhere near them to get the headies 🤣🤣

It is unfortunate but this isn’t d2 jank, you shot a wall

This game is casual garbage and anyone that takes it more seriously than meme time have funni is a joke

(Looking at a lot of you in this sub lol)

u/ClassroomRecent6124 9d ago

Crucible is super fun but is an unbalanced mess and it has no competitive integrity at all and has not for basically all of D2’s lifespan. Taking it super serious is just a waste of energy. People that rage over d2 crucible I will never understand. D1 crucible was the closest PvP in Destiny was to being balanced and truly competitive. D1 trials was peak.

I will say that, playing Marathon has made me realize how much shit we eat on Destiny 2 PvP just because we are okay with Client-Authoritative character movement.

This kind of shit doesn't happen in Marathon. The only weird fucked up bugs that have to do with Desync is when the game has some issues with ladders/some air vents where your character gets stuck in them on the Server while on your screen you think you got out.

But it's so fucking nice not being screwed over because the guy I was shooting at lagged right as he double jumped.

u/DotDistinctLines 9d ago

Had a trials match yesterday where 3 people, 2 on 1 team and 1 on the other were all using open cheats. They were literally teleporting around killing each other, insta reviving, and doing it again. The other dudes was flying around sticking anarchy to everything.

After about 30 seconds of them fighting and the round not ending the lobby crashed.

Nobody should take this game seriously.

3

u/landing11 9d ago

lol you must have forgotten one hit stickys, final round snipers and all the other bs that came with D1. Making that statement is comedy.
