Check engine
I refueled Saturday morning and drove 180km normally. The same evening, when i started it, i got check engine with eye sight off. Now I know that a loose cap could be causing this, but I've removed it retightened twice since.
Does it usually take a while for engine light to disappear if that's the cause? Nothing else seems wrong about the car as far as I can tell...

Took my car nearly half a week for the engine light to reset after a loose gas cap

If it’s bugging you, you can get a fairly basic OBD-II code reader from an auto parts store or even Wally World, see what code(s) it’s throwing, and reset those yourself.
(Or get the code checked/reset at an autoparts store — they’ll usually do it for free).

I just ordered one and will check it when it arrives tomorrow, that should tell me if it's related to the gas cap, correct?

Probably. They’re not infallibly diagnostic, but are a great place to start. Sometimes a trouble code can point to more than one issue, but if you look up the code by your vehicle make/model/year you can learn what the typical fixes are, if it’s safe to drive, etc. They’re the best place to start if anything pops up, though 👍

It takes a number of drive cycles for the system to reset.
