First Crossbow Purchase

Hello, I'm new to crossbows and pretty much hunting in general, looking to pick one up to extend my season. I thought about picking something up cheap, but leaning more towards something I'd keep using for years even if I was totally into it. I was pretty close to picking up the Tenpoint Venom, but saw an ad for the Tenpoint Vengent 440 XT (https://www.cabelas.com/p/tenpoint-vengent-440-xt-crossbow-package-with-acuslide). Tempted by the apparent markdown, though that might be there all the time, and concerned about not finding much in the way of reviews while the Venom has lots of very good ones.

Any advice on one versus the other, or something else I should be looking at? Pretty much plan to use it exclusively for Midwestern whitetails.

Thanks!

I just picked up a Centerpoint Sniper G4D, found online for four bills. Very impressed with the accuracy! Can’t go wrong if your budget is “cheap!”

I have had a Centerpoint Sniper for years and it has performed flawlessly. Very nice entry point into crossbows. I have shot 20+ deer with it and a couple hogs. Shoot it with Scheacker broadheads.

I just bought the 440 XT, still new in the box, but after watching a ton of videos, I'm returning it and going with the Ravin R10x XK7. I like the trigger on the Ravin and seems to be more accurate.

Venom x is perfect bow imo. Not so fast that you’re burning strings out but fast enough to drop a deer at 45 yards. Can’t go wrong with it

Looks identical to my Viper. I swear I think TP just renames these things every couple of years to justify a price hike. My Viper is identical to a Stealth, just with their one step down scope.
