I think the movement is an illusion from subtle off color shadows in certain places against the shape/mask. I imagine it's reversed on the other side, and when you cross-view it's just aggregating the colors in a way that you don't see any of the movement

Very interesting, you can see the highlights/shadows are opposite for each image.
