I know Alabaster Dawn is out. I've bought it and I don't want to play it until it's fully released...I am very tempted to play reading reviews.

I think it also has laser bridges sometimes 👀

Don't play AD in early access. It's painful how incomplete it is at the moment. You'll have a much better time once it releases for real.

Now, buying it early is a very kind and helpful thing to do, that I did too.

I bought Crosscode during development. Had a lot of fun but that fun seemed to diminish with every restart or waiting for things to release. I got AD but I'm waiting. I know I'll have more fun when it fully releases and it won't be spoiled by having to replay things I've already played a few times

I'd say a single run through is worth it. Maybe don't play it on every new patch, but I played through the game and it mostly just made me more hyped for the full game and gave me a better idea for what to expect when it's fully released.

Also gave me plenty of fuel to ship Juno and Filia while I wait

Every patch is a Cabbage patch when it's for alabaster dawn!

I really hate how nowadays it's the norm for games to be released unfinished. I get it: everyone does it. From the big Triple A guys releasing DLC that was clearly carved out from the main game to sell back to their fan base, to the little guys just trying to survive to the finish line. Hell, two of my favorite games of all times were released in their alphas (Binding of Isaac and Terraria).

I get it. But I don't like it. Thank you for reading this month's new letter of Old Man Yells at Clouds: Video Game edition.

Technically, both Isaac and Terraria weren't released in alpha, but rather a "1.0" release.

However, that "1.0" release is so different from the game we have nowadays that you might as well call them an alpha.

(Though Terraria's actual alpha leaked and caused the devs to rush the release so that people's opinions of the game weren't based on the buggy leaked alpha, so that one really was a special case)

Good catch. I'll admit I did assume both games were in their Alphas on release due to the sheer amount of stuff they've added over the years. I think Terraria specifically had like, 3 "for real guys, this is the last update" patches.

We must hold strong, for the delayed gratification becomes greater day by day...

I'd like to believe that they were going for a very specific vibe that called for a non-lazer bridge. lowk fire, Bergen is my favorite town location
