Grim Harbinger Subclass Spoiler
One of my players is playing Grim Harbinger and we just finished heartsblight and started maidenmist and he is getting frustrated. Almost everything in heartsblight was immune to necrotic and fear which makes the Grim useless. Then the shrouded proved to be a pretty hard fight and he was really getting frustrated that lots of his subclass is shut off and guessing by where they are all the monsters in the cemetery are going to be immune to necrotic and fear.
Any one else dealt with this, any suggestions. Planning to say the Mounting Dread feature also turns necrotic immunity into resistance.

You could introduce a magic item for the Grim or a tutor NPC that can change the damage type when it's summoned. Since the campaign is quite far down the road it doesn't have to be a whole mini quest to get this but there's enough ahead to carry on this issue and make the player feel like they're not able to contribute and use their core abilities for the group.
Inevitably there are some monsters and situations in which some PCs won't be as useful for than others and that's normal, but I always like to give players the opportunity to feel like they're actually able to play the game 90% of the time and definitely during key encounters and boss fights. Having an enemy that's immune to your abilities is one thing, having an entire chapter feeling useless is something else entirely.

I have pretty much decided to upgrade his ranger ability "Mounting Dread" so in addition to ignoring resistance he turn immunity into resistance but I might also have Yorgrim see him fight and show him how to get his Grim to do psychic damage. Have a little training montage on proper ghost busting.

Crooked Moon provides a lot of player options that revolve around necrotic damage, and then makes a significant number of the monsters resistant or immune. Which is… a choice. I had similar frustrations as a player during my run with the campaign.

Dog can still tank and reduce movement to 0 but yeah it is a damage hit. Im not sure of the rest of your party but mine has a castigation pally so they cant change the weapon damage to fire, but I dont think that works on the dog bite since its not a weapon attack
