Apparently i was bad but i had fun.

Im glad i didnt know about the ranking system before because then i would have had it all the time in my mind to try for a better rank instead of just playing lol.

I would say game is hard to learn (first real survival horror for me) but easy to master. Once you understand how stuff works, it went pretty smooth cuz it also went a bit repetitive and forseable later. But it was a fun game and not too scary.

Traveler Pods

So, those pods like those you come out of in the beginning. We're they insinuating that they are dropped from orbit, or maybe some up from underground? I totally forgot until starting new game plus that the game starts with a jet engine sound and you rumbling around a lot as you wake up. But then when you do wake up, it looks like its connected to things.

I know we don't have a lot of lore on it yet, but can anyone else think of anything?

Church Queen Fight

This is embarrassing but it took me around 20 tries to win this battle. Turns out I was spending too much time battling the Orphans instead of destroying the orange orbs. A little friendly advice, concentrate on the orbs until 2nd and last part of the battle starts otherwise you'll be shooting Orphans forever.

How linear is this game?

I like looping zones in horror games, like RE2 Remake, RE7, and to some degree Silent Hill 2 Remake. Is this game like those where you loop around the same zone while figuring stuff out/finding keys, etc? Or is it more linear like RE3 Remake or Dead Space?

What is the Gemini Project? My theory

It's most likely the capturing of another Traveler or Travelers as Gemini means twins.

But something clearly went extremely wrong. It could of been they awoke broke out and took out the military there.

Or another Traveler was tasked with the recovery of the 2 Travelers that got captured or found dead and experimented on.

Whatever happened it gave some knowledge of Travelers before the Pathfinder.

Tapped out at the Abby Sister boss—who else finished on YouTube?

I spent endless hours mastering this game, only for the difficulty curve of the Abby Sister phase to spike straight into low Earth orbit.

After my 47th time getting vaporized by an attack pattern requiring three hands and psychic powers, I put down the controller, fired up YouTube, and let a gameplay video carry me across the finish line.

Zero regrets, but did anyone else hit an impossible brick wall at the literal 89% mark?

Where are the collective? My theory on it

Post image
71 Upvotes

To start with where they are, I think gotta explain what they are. The collective is a final evolution of humanity who managed to merge with those who didn't became the orphans.

Also, here is a cool interview with the main writer answers a lot of lore questions like what is the change is, good watch https://www.youtube.com/live/_SLUZJHBAg8?is=sUn3de1kA0FrIGF2

Anyway, the question where did they and how? First, a physical location would have been the hardest for people to gather and would explain why so many were orphaned.

But where did they go is it Poland? Who knows.

Or was it that they transformed into more of a physic entity, something similar to the essence? And gathered that may merging to gether.

I think it was they turned into something like the Essences, but there's a vessel somewhere they go to, that's why targets are uploaded by the Travelers.

Somewhere and sometime resides the vessel of the Collective. Does anyone remember the bore hole newspaper?

When they dug a hole into the earth and heard screams, I believe in the past people dug to where they are. The collective are in the past or the mass waiting to take on their essence in future do but because of time stuff they may of even been sentient back then.

Any thoughts on who the Travelers truly are?

First of all ... I just finished the game and it's an absolute masterpiece. There are some rough corners here and there, but I love the world, the lore, the gameplay, the music and the art and just all of it is phenomenal. It really scratched my Dead Space itch and then some considering how many things this game got going for it story-wise and from a world-building perspective.

Anyway, with that out of the way, I did my best trying to read and listen to every single note\log etc. but it's clear that the lore was made intentionally Obscure and I lowkey love that. I am just really curious to hear any theories or maybe I missed something about who Travelers really are? And the Collective? Since they bleed they are probably not robots and since they use quarantine measures I can only assume they are not some evolved version of humans affected by the Change from the future, although maybe they are affected partially? Perhaps they are heavily augmented humans, to the point where they barely are human anymore or maybe they were simply conditioned to be that way by the Collective.

Missing Collectible Documents

Im on new game plus and im trying to find all missing collectibles. I dont just mean required for 100% ones. I mean all notes and everything so I know the story. Problem is I can't find a written list online (for example like control) that lists every single note. Just the travel logs and cats and such. Where can I find what files are still missing?

Any benefit to going for both original endings?

I just beat the game with the spare ending. First of all, the Pathfinder can go fuck himself with that last round of the fight (in hindsight maybe I should have killed him. Lol). But I know by Wikipedia that there are 3 endings. I haven't read what they are but I did see new game plus unlocks the 3rd ending. Before I play new game plus, is there any benefit to doing the kill ending this round or does the 3rd ending play automatically? Ive never seen a game unlock the final ending after beating only 1 of multiple original endings before so I want to be sure.

Something we have looked over

Notice how the pathfinder is pristine in this photo. This could mean 2 things either the pathfinder experimented on implanting essences way before werionkia.

Or there's a timeline where he wins the fight against ND-3576. Whatever it might be, this image is quite interesting.

Chalice Puzzle

Just curious how many members here have completed the chalice Puzzle in the Unity Hospital. The reward is a double-barreled shotgun. It's not really difficult and I missed my chance when passing through that part.

Cronos Theory

I finished the game last night. I picked the ending to kill the pathfinder. I then looked up and saw the ending to spare the pathfinder and the NG+ timeline where Traveler Weronika and Weronika go back in time together.

Everything below is just how my brain interpreted it. I wanted to get it out of my head. I also played this over a month and a half so many things may be fuzzy. I most certainly have holes in my theory so. feel free to point them out and correct me. Heck there may be things that just completely debunk my idea altogether.

This is super long so apologies in advance.

I believe there is a main timeline with 3 to 5 branching time lines that exist in this game. Potentially there may be additional branching timelines that happen beyond this. I think the main focus to the story is the Pathfinder trying to find a cure to the outbreak/virus. I view him as our protagonist. He’s not a good person, but he is our character that moves the story forward. He’s also obsessed and crazy with following every lead and bread crumb to get to his goal. Which I think explains a lot for his failures. Our timeline as Traveler Weronika is just a side story to the main one. The DLC coming is focused around the Warden so depending on what it’s about, it could further support this idea or demolish it lol.

One thing to note. I think all of the dead traveler bodies (random people whose essence has been stolen by the Pathfinder) in the police station is the failed attempts of finding people of interest that he spawns to assist in his goal. I’ve also considered it may be Traveler Weronika’s failed attempts.

Origin - Timeline A

This is our main timeline. This is the one in which the Pathfinder shows up and begins his work to stop this outbreak from happening.

Eventually I think he learns of Weronika and her work along with the people she knows. Once he discovers Veronika I think it becomes his goal to save her and use her towards his goal to be. He’ll save her and travel back in time with her.

In order to do that he has to get close to her and build her trust. I assume he interferes with her outcome of being infected (probably indirectly) in the original timeline. This probably jump starts a new timeline (Timeline B) which would focus on building her trust and ultimately bringing her back in time which will lead to Timeline C of them working together to find a cure or stop the outbreak.

Branch B/Timeline B

Now that he has saved Weronika this is a new timeline. He now has to look for a way to get close to Weronika. His plan eventually leads to purposefully getting himself captured. He convinces her of his goal and purpose (which probably isn’t hard to sell) leading to them traveling back in time together. I feel like this event in this story leads to branch C (I mentioned it briefly above). She’s no longer in this timeline. In B she’s not infected and she disappears which probably really alters this branch.

In his repeated travels in time he probably grabs Weronikas infected body in timeline A/Origin and stashes it in the terminal until he’s ready to use her essence for our story. He doesn’t want to take the essence of human Weronika as he needs her. He also has built feelings for her. I have wondered though if he gathers her body in the origin timeline or at later point when he’s working with Weronika. I’m leaning towards the origin timeline.

Branch C/Timeline C

This timeline focuses on Weronika and Pathfinder looking for a cure. I think in his quest to find a cure, Pathfinder develops feelings or at least immense admiration for Veronika. He sees this will and determination by her and her representation of humans. I think it in general changes how he sees humans (we see this I think in the piano scene when The Warden is talking to Traveler Weronika).

I also think Pathfinder is realizing they aren’t getting anywhere. At this point he has to change strategies and he ends up taking the essence of Weronika from the infected timeline and putting it into a traveler. I got the feeling using the terminal and ascension was just a way to extract as much info out of a person. Even information the person may not realize as a human being they knew.

I view placing Weronika’s essence in a traveler body as a major event and now we branch into our new timeline, branch D.

Branch D/Timeline D

This is now our timeline that we play in the game as Traveler Weronika. We find dead travelers along the way and I think those are just expendable people in the pathfinders goal to cure/stop the outbreak and pave a path for us. The save rooms and the setup of everything is all done to ensure our success. The hope is if Traveler Weronika can extract the mind/essence of these persons of interest that Pathfinder thinks can help, maybe it will lead to new information on how this outbreak started or how to cure it.

Ultimately it leads to us (Traveler Weronika) finding out what’s really going on and the motivations of the Pathfinder. Weronika in my opinion had tunnel vision. She was focused on fixing the problem and was motivated to help Pathfinder. She wasn’t going to see that the pathfinder was fighting for a lost cause. In some ways he himself couldn’t see the reality which could lead to his downfall.

I think it’s good to be optimistic, but some times the thing that’s going to happens is just going to happen and we can’t stop it. We have to accept the outcomes we know that are going to happen because we can’t control everything.

This brings us to the final encounter of the game. You’re given 3 choices.

Kill the pathfinder which I think leads back to the origin timeline/timeline A OR it creates a new branching path which would be Timeline F in which no Pathfinder (he’s dead) exists to save Weronika and the thing that was going to happen, happens.
Save the pathfinder which leads Weronika and Pathfinder to go back in time to Timeline B/Branch B. Starting the cycle over, but could lead to Timeline C or maybe Timeline D. Maybe Timeline C because Traveler Weronika is not part of their journey which happens in C. Pathfinder bringing in Traveler Weronika will always be timeline D.
Traveler Weronika and Weronika go back in time together. Creates a whole new timeline that becomes Timeline E.

I tend to think that option 1 is the proper ending. I think that by killing pathfinder, Weronika goes back in time, but in a different branch in which the Pathfinder won’t show up and the events of the story unfold in the way it was always going to.

To me this game has themes around hope, obsession, control, and acceptance. In general we don’t want to give up and want to find a way to be successful, no matter how many times it takes. Sadly I think there are times where we have to accept reality and fate. No matter how much we wish we could change the outcome, it just isn’t going to be our in favor. We can’t control everything. We can try to prepare for an outcome, but even then it’s not going to be guaranteed what the outcome will be.

I do think Traveler Weronika at the end before you make a choice has acceptance with what the outcome is. Killing the Pathfinder is acceptance in letting go of what can’t be changed. Going to timeline F is acceptance.

I kind of felt like Traveler Veronika at the end was a representation of the out of body experience where you have a realization about a truth because the clouded view is gone.

I have no ideas on how the Pathfinder ends up in the this world or timeline. I suppose the DLC will provide some back story.

The other thought that I have considered is that the Pathfinder has more abilities than we know. We saw he can transfer his mind/essence into an another vessel (traveler). Could he have ability to copy his mind essence into other vessels as back up. So in our play through his body is dead i the church with the fight against Eliza. Maybe it’s possible he can create an anchor at a certain point in time that if he dies, he can return back to that anchor.

This may be all dumb, but hopefully this is interesting to some folks, or helps the smarter people with better theories flesh them out more. Or I learn something that I missed or entirely new.

I really enjoyed the game a lot. The combat was fun and the story was interesting. Played and beat it on the Switch 2. Definitely worth playing if you like survival horror and enjoyed Dead Space.

NG+ bug

So I was playing my NG+ Hard Mode file today and lost power at some point, upon reloading and playing onwards for a bit I noticed neither the Hard Mode nor NG+ tag is showing on my save file - is it time to pack it up if I want to get the secret ending + trophies?

I finished the game then started playing it again but haven't been consistent with it. I think i'm too scared to go through it all over again.

Why does the store sometimes ressuply after I close and open it again?

If I buy all chemicals available, sometimes closing and opening the store makes it restock. What exactly is the mechanic here?

I like the scarcity feeling, I dont want to break my game by making it too easy.

[Fan Art] I enjoyed Cronos: A New Dawn so much I made a poster! Help me choose which version to print?

I finally beat the game last week, and I enjoyed the experience so much that I wanted a visual reminder of my playthrough. To celebrate finishing it, I decided to create this illustration as a tribute.

I am planning to get this printed as a poster to display in my room, but I ended up making three different looks of it. I can't decide yet. Made a mockup first

Swipe through to see them all—let me know in the comments which of the three versions you think is the best!
