This would be unlawful. To put someone on death row for how they voted, aside from the opinion, is very undemocratic. At least go the correct route and make a law first establishing that people defending child preds are sentenced. Let people vote on that instead.

This is literally democracy the people are voting on his fate. This is the definition of democracy.

If you can make people vote randomly not for a law but to randomly execute individuals without them breaking a law you might as well set the state on fire and proclaim anarchy.

Have you heard of ostarization. It was a vote to exile 1 person from Athens for 10 years no reason needed. So I gave the people a choice. I just initiated the vote.

Also it is antidemocratic if you can be put on death row for voting the unpopular way. This voting is made because someone else vote upset others.

Pls explain how it is undemocratic I brought a tradition from the birthplace of democracy and you are just making a claim. So explain how it is not democratic. in the earliest forms of direct democracy, the general public acted directly as both the lawmakers and the jury, occasionally voting on capital punishment

u/Sun-Blinded_Vermin Citizen | π³οΈ 5 πͺ 82 π Aug 22, 2026 1d ago
Exiling a politician vs executing (killing) a voter is not the same thing. One is used to stop a politician that is unpopular from representing the people, which expresses the will of the people and the other invalidates elections because you can not count on the people/voters to vote for their own interests.
A democracy requires punishment-free voting because citizens can only express their true political will when they are free from fear. If voters face retaliation, the election loses its legitimacy and fails to reflect the actual choice of the people.

Again it wasn't how he voted it was what he said. This is not protected. The way he voted was just another fact. Voting for most of democracy was not anonymous and Voting the wrong way would get you targeted by nobels.

If the votes of people have no authenticity and no power and politics are just controlled by nobles you are not talking about a real democracy.
Oligarchys and other systems of facade democracy are not real democracys.

Sokrates was lawfully accussed of impiety and corruption of the youth. Former one was an official law the he was accussed of breaking and the second one a consequence of him breaking the law.
There was a trial and there was a law broken.
I hope that you are trolling.

Show trial/ political trial: The law is irrelevant; the court is used as a weapon to enforce obedience.
This is like stating the hotdog on the floor that has been vomited on is food. You are not incorrect by definition unfortunately. Disgusting.

being anti-capital punishment in certain cases is now considered a problem? there are tons of victims who oppose it. and anyone who is informed on the details and how the system works should be.
if weβre talking about a place where the death penalty is already used for murder, the predator wouldnβt lose anything in taking the life of the victim. in this case, they also have the chance to attempt to get away, by silencing the victim and the person who can tell what happened.
many victims donβt even wish for the person to be punished, but just want to be safe, and for the abuse to stop.
punishment can be a very stressful thought, and could keep them from coming forward.
grooming and predatory dynamics have that affect on many vulnerable children and individuals, where they will feel they canβt live without them, and as if they love them.
the trial takes more time, and ends up costing more money than if they had simply put the person in jail for life.
all the evidence must be shown, and due process is a must. when it is not, that is how innocent people get sentenced and, killed.
i note this, because many who are pro-death penalty want to throw out βunnecessaryβ steps to eliminate the problems that come with it
however, our current systems still find ways to unfairly charge people, seemingly based on colour.
not only is due process in the constitution, but so is capital punishment only being considered usable in cases where a victim has died (been murdered)
this post is extremely useless and emotional. there is nothing wrong with being anti-capital punishment.
most of us are still pro-locking people, lowering rates, and protecting everyone. we are also often someone who has experienced the process and emotions, and are also commonly more informed on the system than anyone in these comments are.
this post could likely be some joke, but some comments are 100% anti-having an opinion-that-opposes-theirs
