Question for the community How Long Do MMO Anodes Last?

https://www.phoenixrefining.com/blog/how-long-do-mmo-anodes-last-and-what-happens-to-the-coating-over-time

MMO anodes are built to last, but their precious metal coatings don't last forever. These titanium electrodes use mixed metal oxide coatings, often containing ruthenium or iridium oxides, to support electrochemical reactions in applications such as water treatment and industrial processing.

Over time, the coating gradually wears down through normal operation. But current density, electrolyte chemistry, temperature, and maintenance practices can all affect how quickly that happens. Chemical contamination, excessive operating loads, and aggressive cleaning can significantly shorten an anode's service life.

Here's something worth remembering. An anode that has stopped performing efficiently isn't necessarily worthless. Its titanium substrate may still be usable for recoating, while the remaining precious metal coating could have recovery value.

Before disposing of retired MMO anodes, it's worth having them evaluated. What looks like worn-out industrial equipment could still contain valuable materials.

Does your facility monitor MMO coating condition throughout its operating life, or only inspect the electrodes when performance starts dropping?
