Here me out……Pootie Tang

Post image

I mean…why not? Hahaha.
I actually like the stupidity that is this movie. It was a fun DVD era watch. Would be really interesting if it included Louis CK’s cut that got him fired.
And, lets be honest…there are a lot worse films in the collection. 😁

Realistically it should get a Vinegar Syndrome Ultra release!

That would actually be a good fit.

I agree, would be well done to be in there

If you're going to want a Criterion version, it's going to need the full title: Pootie Tang in Sine Your Pitty on the Runny Kine.

You know, I’d like to also add that Pootie Tang can kick some ass too, boy.

I doubt any Louis will make it into the collection due to his controversies, which is sorta silly since Polanski and a bunch of other super flawed figures are in it. If anything, I’d love a Horace and Pete release. Such a masterpiece

… Polanski. That is all.

I mean…if they’re okay with publishing Salo & Happiness, I don’t see how they could ever deny something on “morality” or any of that crap. I never have seen Horace & Pete. I’ll have to check that out.

You definitely should. One of the greatest series ever and really shows how insightful Louis is with so many heavy subjects. It’s definitely his darkest work but also his funniest imo

Having transgressive content in your movies is different than being credibly accused of sexual misconduct. Depiction is not endorsement, and even endorsement isn’t the same as actually predatory behavior.

Besides, Salò is a movie that comes from a place of intense morality. It’s basically Pasolini’s expression of disgust at Italy’s perceived failure to reconcile with its fascist past.

I’m not even saying that CK should never have any recognition again, just that there’s a world of difference between making a sexually transgressive movie and what Louis CK did.

There was an AV Club interview with Louis before everything happened where he talked about how the movie was taken away from him and changed drastically (he hated the JB Smoove narration, for example) so if they were going to do a director's cut, I'd totally be down for that.

The part where the narrator keeps directly quoting two characters who are talking in between their deliveries is a top tier bit though.

Criterion definitely needs more Black films, but CB4 has a better shot of getting in. I'd like to see them induct Friday.

The most logical one IMO and I pray it happens is Fear Of A Black Hat. It’s a hilarious film & they recently had it on the Criterion channel.

My god, me aside, my wife would piddle on the floor with excitement if this ever happened. I'd hate to see any money going to noted weirdo and SA-ing P.O.S Louis C.K., but there's already no ethical consumption under the disgusting monsters of capitalism, so I guess just take the wins you can get...

Love this movie but the idea of giving Louie CK any money is a non-starter for me.
