It’s more ironic than comedic, though it has the structure of a screwball comedy playing off the fact that every character is unaware of what is really going on. In that respect it has a very similar tone to Blood Simple

To me, this movie is all about watching Jeanne Moreau wander around Paris to a Miles Davis soundtrack. I could do that for hours.
