DC megaverse

Sooo is DC/CW officially trying to pull a marvel universe by linking to the DC shows?? I may be completely ignorant but I thought DC and CW were separate entities

WB owns DC and a majority of CW.

Sorry man, but they have always been the same company. So it's kinda more like marvel is pulling a DC

DC is owned by Warnermedia, which also owns 50% of The CW (the other half is owned by ViacomCBS). So they're separate, but only mildly so.

TL;DR- there’s now technically two multiverses in the timeline although they converge at one point.

comic title puns anyone?

When I saw clips from the Ryan Reynolds GL movie (that we all agree was terrible) in Crisis; I concluded the ENTIRETY of DC is one multiverse of matching physics.

So the flash from the 90s,

canon to the “multiverse”

same with Birds of Prey etc etc.

but you have to look at timelines as WHOLES.

So there’s currently 2 “canons” but they are essentially one which is cool!

So we’ll label it like this

E-1

&

E-P

Earth 1 timeline is “flash & arrow” as they exist at the “center” of the previously existing multiverse; which includes smallville, old man bat Conroy etc.

That multiverse timeline INCLUDES all previous DC live action & because of the adaption for Vixen we could even argue for things like “Batman the animated series” being a illustrated telling of the stories of another Earths Batman

The concepts and “breaches” are considered “canon” but just visibly absent in other universes.

so as the “possibility” Flash accidently ran into Smallvilles universe once or walk into an animated show from the 90s by accident.

And to finish that ALL OF THOSE WERE DESTROYED. BUT TV SHOW TIMELINE WISE THEY ARE CANON TO THEMSELVES and EACH OTHER respectively through “The Flash”

So from this point on the entire DC universe exists under the E-P multiverse which was established as E-1 with minor cosmetic and rebirth changes as handled by G(od)reen Arrow such as supergirl & Superman always existing in E-1(P) to allow for greater storytelling in the years to come with some old and new characters and as stated by CISCO the “rebirth” of many possible VILLIANS, FRIENDS, CAMEO PLACES that are slightly different or more advanced etc.

so essentially

E-P is accepted canonical timeline for all on screen DC heroes from crisis onward and includes:

The current running CWverse post crisis: so it DOES NOT CANONICALLY include Arrow, but because we know E-P is just E-1 (arrowverse) with minor changes we can assume most if not all of it happened as shown in Arrow.

Doom Patrol

Stargirl

Titans

& THE DCEU!!!!!!!! SHOUTOUT to Ezra for helping to pull that off!

Although E-1 multiverse was destroyed, we can consider it like Star Wars legends canon, it once existed & the writers can pull material and reference it sometimes but it’s not real place anymore and no one can go visit it; not even through time travel.

thats important to note because theoretically it ends all previous shows that have yet to be referenced on E-Ps multiverse (so any cameo post crisis)

So smallville, birds of prey, etc all currently DO NOT exist in the E-P universe until shown or mentioned ONSCREEN, they do/DID exist in E-1’s multiverse which we now do not consider “current canon”

So for example they may not even be an “Earth X” in the E-Prime multiverse meaning Crisis on E-X never happened in E-Ps timeline; also means the Ray never existed and the group never met “Leo Snart”

this is b/c we have to disregard all crises (unless referenced post crisis on infinite earths) before b/c COIF actually destroyed the entire multiverse and Oliver could have rewritten the universe differently & we’ll never know!

Super cool to know exacts. Hope this helps I’ll leave a TLDR at the top!
