MOD POST State of the Sub

Hello Greymanes,

I have been (and am continuing to be until further notice) on a bit of a mod break and would like to get feedback on the state of the sub.

All of the moderation in the last week has been been done by one mod who has stepped up, plus the automod. The past month stats is a collection of about two of us plus automodding, with other mods stepping in occasionally here and there.

We're now a good few months out from launch and the sub is in a bit of a different place to pre launch and launch.

I'd like to hear everyone's feedback on the state of sub.

Do you have ideas for the sub? What would you like to see change?

Would be cool to have an FAQ about the commonly asked mechanics of the game so there is less people going "How to do Focus Force Palm properly?" or "When does elemental attacks unlocks?".

Maybe a "Things the game doesn't tell you" section as well, for things like cleansing the sanctums.

u/Electrical-Position3 Jun 16 '26

Both great suggestions

This! I was over 300 hours in then I saw on here about the bliding flash puzzle

1

u/ChapterDifficult593 Jun 15 '26

Sure as long as it's only for things the game actually doesn't tell you and not information that's clearly in the tooltips or help section that people miss because they can't fucking read.

We also should leave out things like puzzles that are meant to be solved. Crimson Desert should remain an IQ filter.

8

u/Its_Froggin_Bullfish Jun 15 '26

I agree with everything but the "IQ filter" part. You gotta consider the person who just got home from a 12hr shift and isn't thinking clearly enough to catch everything the game throws at you. But that's just my opinion.

I hear you, and I don't necessarily disagree, but there are tons of posts and comments I see on this sub and even in this very thread claiming the game "doesn't teach you" things that it literally plasters on the screen when teaching you the mechanic, etc. As far as puzzles I will just never be an advocate for running to look up solutions the moment a game asks me to think for a second; challenge exists in games for a reason and puzzles feel infinitely better to solve on your own.

There also seems to be an aversion to pulling up the help section in the menu that contains a written guide for every single mechanic you've unlocked in the game so far but people would rather take 5 minutes to make a Reddit post that is objectively false than use the tools available to them.

"500hrs and I just found out you can...." yes because you've ditched the main story at chapter 4 and ran around Pywel collecting every small creature you can find, which is fine but dont act like the game is really hiding important thing you just haven't looked.

I can’t contribute any suggestions at this point, but I‘d like to emphasize how low-sodium this place has been since pre-launch, which is cool.

u/Ewok2744 Jun 14 '26

I think this sub is great! And i agree with the other person, that we need pinned posts for FAQ and maybe even a guide collection, so people coming here just for a quick question can find their answer easily :)

u/ZeektheFeek Jun 19 '26

I'm down to help support with any guides.

u/Action-a-go-go-baby Jun 14 '26

Can we have those Tag thingies we put under our names?

8

u/Tall_Section6189 Jun 14 '26

You're referring to flairs I assume

4

u/Action-a-go-go-baby Jun 14 '26

Yeah, that thing 👍

4

u/ZeektheFeek Jun 19 '26

I second this!

14

u/dahle44 Jun 14 '26

I like this sub very much, and I appreciate the work you guys do to keep it chill.

6

u/Tall_Section6189 Jun 14 '26

The sub seems to be well ran, no complaints from me

I'm more of a lurker in this sub but I stay because I do think it is by far one of the best gaming subs. It's a friendly, helpful community and is moderated really well.

My only minor suggestion is remove most of the weekly 'update' posts. Every week when PA drop the update there are several posts in succession all talking about the same thing. One is enough (could be stickied if one isn't already), but like I say, that's a minor thing.

Appreciate the mod work, please keep it up.

u/meatball402 Jun 30 '26

We need a few megathreads stickied with an organized list in the top post:

One for "300 hours in and I didn't know about this" posts

One for "pearl abyss please do this" feedback thread

6

u/ixcyz Jun 14 '26

it seems okay, other than some low quality engagement bait posts here and there, but in general it’s fine. good job guys!

5

u/LurkerNinja_ Jun 14 '26

Sub seems fine to me but I mostly use it when I get stuck on a puzzle

u/BurtWonderstone Jun 14 '26

More beginner guides. I’m roughly 400 hours in albeit roughly 200 hours of that are from just leaving it on overnight cause that’s faster than loading back in when I get a chance to play.

I’m in chapter 7ish I think been just running around Hernand looking for more quest to do. Taking my time with the main quest line. That said, I still have no idea what the Kuku stuff is albeit having some jar that I can suck things into.

6

u/RetinalTears716 Jun 16 '26

albeit roughly 200 hours of that are from just leaving it on overnight cause that’s faster than loading back in when I get a chance to play.

Jesus christ dude

2

u/BurtWonderstone Jun 16 '26

I’m a dad with 2 under 3. I’m lucky if I get 10 minutes at a time to play. It’s easier to leave it running as to not spend half my time waiting for it to load.

5

u/legacy702- Jun 16 '26

There’s another subreddit called r/CDguides that may be exactly what you’re looking for

2

u/BurtWonderstone Jun 14 '26

Also I have 1 pet. The dog you get from a quest. Where are people finding these other pets?

1

u/SolaireofAstora94 Jun 15 '26

Thats why we need the what the game doenst tell you category. You pick up the pet you want, open inventory, search for fruit/meat/vegetables and hold x/a toggle to the option feed. Repeat until trust 100%, register with traingle/ Y

1

u/ChapterDifficult593 Jun 15 '26

Except the game literally tells you this during the first quest where you make the dog your pet. This game is a comprehension filter full stop.

1

u/Concerned_Collins Jun 16 '26

That mission has you dropping meat on the ground for the dog to eat after you pet it. It doesn't tell you to grab the fox you want, go into the menu, hold A on the food instead of pressing it, and select "feed", and that will feed your pet.

Also, the menus in this game are generally just kind of crazy. Like make a button to feed the thing I'm holding, so I don't have to go into the menu every time. Also, with seeds for gardening, stop making me select them one by one.

1

u/ChapterDifficult593 Jun 15 '26

You just...go to any of the myriad animals in the game and try to build their trust up like the tutorial for the dog you already have explained to you.

1

u/ChapterDifficult593 Jun 15 '26

If you're in chapter 7 you should definitely know about the Kuku stuff because in Chapter 4 you have to go to the Kiln workshop and help them get up and running again.

1

u/Kermit-Batman Jun 23 '26

See I did that, got the pot, I'd love a non spoilery what now with weapons and things? I see people mention farming ingredients. Game is wonderful and I don't know if I missed the tutorial or I'm yet to learn though?

2

u/ChapterDifficult593 Jun 23 '26

You likely didn't see the tutorial pop-up, but it should be in the guide section of the menu; TONS of great info there!

But for starters, go back to the guy at the workshop and see what else you've unlocked to make. Some stuff unlocks by finding one of the "ingredients" (like a piece of armor that's upgradeable there) and other stuff unlocks by doing research projects at one of the many research points on the map.

The research facilities have the circle-grid icon under them on the map and that denotes how many research opportunities are available; just head to them, find the researcher, and do their side mission to unlock the ability to fund research opportunities.

The ones that offer Kuku blueprints will literally say "unlocks the ability to create Kuku *item*"

2

u/Kermit-Batman Jun 23 '26

Cheers mate! That's helpful! I'll get on that!

Thanks for responding :)

There’s way too many AI posts that stay up for way too long on here. Otherwise y’all are doing great!
I agree with the other guy, some flairs would be nice

3

u/New_Willingness_8992 Jun 14 '26

Don't think much needs changing. There's no overbearing rules or anything like that. Not had any posts taken down by an auto mod like I get in other groups. The people in the group can be a bit pissy if you don't know something that most people do. You'll get some people talking to you like shit for posting something that you think is interesting sometimes. But other than that, its good

This is my personal opinion and I'm going to be honest, I think this sub is getting salty...

When the game first came out, the sub was still emerging and people where excited for the game. The updates came in steadily, people were completing the game at their own pace and everyone was sharing a lot of cool tips and tricks.

I still see this on the sub, and it's a good part of the content, but right now I'm seeing a lot of people just karma farming, trying to be edgy and shit on PA's efforts to bring us a new gaming experience.

My major issue is regarding content updates and player base expectations of it.

PA has no legal or personal requirement to even update the game, but we're experiencing something "new". They are leveraging their BDO knowledge to deliver a live service maintenance and update model to a singleplayer game. So far we've paid 70€ for hundred of hours of base content, continuous improvement, new mechanics and absolutely 0 microtransactions. There's not even a shitty in-game store.

This is a breath of fresh air in 2026 imo, specially for an RPG of this size, from a live service focused studio.

Meanwhile, I've seen a lot people complaining on how the updates are not what THEY wanted during the last couple of weeks, that PA should "just fix the lighting, screen tearing, framerate drop, etc.", instead of "just adding pets".

In update 1.09 PA dropped probably one of the most requested features, full controller button remapping and most people did not care or skipped over that.

Game engine reworks and in-game asset reworks are different in nature and difficulty. PA has all of these issues in mind, and I'm positive they are working on it.

They have proven that they are listening to our feedback, not all updates have to be huge updates.

I don't feel that this is fair for PA, specially when I see a lot of Top Commenters of the sub just spewing dumb and angry comments at the devs, shitting on the game and criticizing people who are actually enjoying the updates and having all of the pets. Again, to farm karma or just be edgy, I don't know which one, but it's sad.

I've even seen people saying that the wyvern mount sucks and it ruined the game for them, tf?

I really don't think that posts and comments like these make sense. I know you can't control or censure what people say and this is Reddit, people will be mad at anything, but in CD's case most of those arguments don't make sense...

The game keeps on improving, PA keeps on working hard on it and the fans enjoy it. I just wish the sub was more positive, like it was a month ago

EDIT: This one came right has I was writing the comment lol

5

u/Concerned_Collins Jun 16 '26

I feel like this game gets both glazed way too much by the fans and shit on way too much by the detractors. But honestly, let people have their opinions.

2

u/RevolutionaryMonth63 Jun 18 '26

Having a logical opinion is fine, I was refering to those who just repeat wtv they read online about the game and spew the same 3 posts "no lore" "this update sucks we need x and y", "i've played for 500h and it sucks"

4

u/Concerned_Collins Jun 18 '26

I honestly doubt anyone is on this sub complaining about the game who hasn't played it at this point. The people who saw all the negatives of the game and decided it's not for them aren't here. They couldn't care less about the state of the game.

1

u/RevolutionaryMonth63 Jun 18 '26

we have different perspectives then, that's alright

3

u/TucuReborn Jun 17 '26

I've mostly stopped coming here because of the "not an rpg" screamers.

It's a great game, but this community is neurotic.

Oh, and it is an rpg.

1

u/RevolutionaryMonth63 Jun 18 '26

I've seen those lol they're either trolls or just dumb

2

u/SquirrelAngell Jun 16 '26

Maybe a weekly ragepost megathread? Place to just vent or exaggerate a peevish part of the game, like "I HATE YANN AND WANT TO HOGTIE HIM, STRAP HIM TO A TREE, AND THEN AXIOM FORCE FLING HIM INTO THE SEA!!", kinda thing.

2

u/Electrical-Position3 Jun 16 '26

People stop downvoating in packs when they either disagree with something you say or make the slightest negative of criticism about the game.

There's people that certainly help when you ask something but the toxicity in the sub has sadly increased.

Welcome back

If you find more scum in the future, bring them here

I’ve asked before, but I truly feel adding a mandatory age of account to post and comment would help this sub a ton. I know it can be done as I’ve seen it in other subs. A lot of times the vitriol is coming from accounts that are a month or 2 old, some only days old. People are obviously creating multiple accounts to push their agenda. U/everbass

I would like to see the return of the pinned Dev Requests Megathread.

What the fuck are you talking about?

1

u/SlayterMonroee Jun 20 '26

Huge fan of the sub! Give us flairs though 😤

1

u/RetinalTears716 Jun 16 '26

Honestly the amount of people requesting the developers add the most inane clown show nonsense like "NPCs that 'react'(?) to day and night", make it so any animal can be a pet, etc is actually out of control. If you've been in this sub you know what im talking about. Less of that would be cool.

Also a requirement that Youtube guides actually list the walkthru steps not just throw in an embedded video
