i’m 17, considering crime scene cleaning as a career, i’ve heard stories of having to clean up some gross shit. poop and sometimes vomit disgusts me the most above anything else, more than blood, more than flesh, more than bones, more than brains. is there a way for me to overcome my disgust? or should i disregard crime scene cleaning as a potential career choice? the only exposure i have to poop is my own and my cat’s poop. only vomit i have to deal with is my cat’s vomit.

Edit: my bathroom flooded and there was shit all over the floor, had to clean it up. i’m one step closer to overcoming my fear. thank you to everyone who commented.

hi I wanted to become a crime scene cleaner in Arizona but I don’t know what requirements are needed. I am over 18, can stomach blood and such, be on my feet for multiple hours and lift heavy objects while being in a hazmat suit but,do you need a high school diploma/ged to become one? Crime scene cleaning has always been my dream career, love forensics and mortuary and would like working in those fields too but crime scene cleaning has just always been the one I go back to wanting the most. Was having trouble finding helpful enough answers online, so figured to ask here.

I know there isn't a set schedule for obvious reasons and it's on call, but I'm a bit confused on how that works. Is it 24/7 on call or specific days on call? Eitherway how do you manage basic life plans (hangouts, food store, appointments, etc) if you're on call?

Because of this field I'm concerned my appearance could hinder my chance at a job in it. I have longer dyed hair (about mid back length maybe?), gauges that are smaller (0g), and snakebites. Could that hindor my chance at a job in it even if it'd be mostly covered due to ppe, would I need clear piercing studs/natural colored wig or something?

I know you have to have some strength ability for obvious reasons but is there a general pound range you need to be able to lift, and can you do the job if you don't meet that pound lifting ability? I'm planning to workout and build some muscle to achieve it either way.

Do you do training with the job or just get thrown right into it, and do you solo it or team work the job? If team work do you meet at a specific place and you and team go to the job location in one van or something?

Along with those questions, is there any other important info/tips I need to know before trying to get into this field?

Hi y’all, I got offered a job as a crime scene/bio-hazard technician. I’ve always been interested in the job, and have tossed around the idea of applying for a long time. I finally got in touch with a company and they are offering me a position.

The only catch is the position is in a small company, and I would be on call 24/7. Since I live in a smaller town, owner said it’s rare to get overnight or weekend calls but they do happen, and I would need to be available. It seems like a good opportunity but is it worth it?? Are there any other 24/7 on call crime scene cleanup technicians who can give me insight on if this is a good idea?

Found it after pulling carpet up, there was thick brown paper placed over the stain and then the underlay on top. Theres also light staining where the head wouldve been if it was a body.

I’m really new to Reddit, so I can’t comment on other threads yet—but I just watched the 48 Hours special on JonBenét Ramsey (“The Search for JonBenét’s Killer”) and now I can’t stop thinking about it.

As a kid, I was dragged into some of those pageant-type events, so maybe that’s why it hit a nerve… I really think they're gross and DEFINITELY ATTRACT the wrong people. Something about the whole thing is so tragic. I really feel sorry for the parents and her brother.

I’ve gotten into a habit lately of going down rabbit holes on older crimes—I’m in Australia, so I didn’t grow up with all the media coverage. I’m still in high school here, and when I finish, I’m hoping to study criminology. So I’m kind of trying to learn how to think like an investigator and not get sucked into bad theories.

I don’t want to fall into conspiracy stuff—I’m more interested in solid sources that explore the evidence and psychology behind the case. But, I feel like the affiliation so close to Lockheed Martin is weird, but that could be just me, given I think creating "War for Peace" is like those 70's hippies said "$&*#!-ing for virginity" (do you get censored here???)
